<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">All right. What Kobe Bryant did was sportsmanlike and gracious. He respected the game.

But he should have stayed in a little while longer.

``That's not what we play for,'' said the Lakers star, who sat out the rest of the game after outscoring the Mavericks 62-61 in three quarters Tuesday. ``That's not what it's about. It's not to score 70 points. We wanted to win the game, and the game was in the bag. It was in the refrigerator.''

But what would it have hurt him to play three more minutes? (Because surely he could have scored eight points in that time.) And by not playing, he cost himself a much more notable spot in history.

Here's the list of players who have scored 60 points in a game, but never 70: Michael Jordan, Pete Maravich, Rick Barry, Joe Fulks, Jerry West, George Gervin, Tracy McGrady, George Mikan, Karl Malone, Shaquille O'Neal, Bernard King, Larry Bird, Tom Chambers, Allen Iverson and Bryant.</div>

It was actually a good thing that he played it safe and sat down the whole quarter. Just look a Profit, he's out for the whole season because he ruptured his Achilles in garbage time; that could've been Kobe.

If Kobe had played a few more minutes after the third the press would have been a frenzy with negative feedbacks for Kobe. Dont get me wrong, though, I wanted Kobe to play more as well. However, him sitting out for the fourth was a wise decision because though he may have scored 80 in the fourth, his public image would have suffered. I hate how players accomplishments are always skewed by the media. Why should a player have to hide his talent so that everyone around him doesnt **** him over?

Man I went to that game Tuesday night, I got pics and I'll try to post them up ASAP. But watching Kobe score 62 was awesome. It was sweet to be in the audience while history was made. Yeah you're right, the media would of buried Kobe with negativity if he was to shoot for 70.

It's your obligation to go to every game from now on. [IMG]

Guys, it was for the best, as much as I would have LOVED for him to play the 4th, without him, the rest of the game was soooo boring.

But imagine this, Kobe plays the 4th, and shoots 2/10, ruins his 58% field goal percentage, loses all his credibility for what he did that night.

This way, he goes out on top, and there's nothing really left to talk smack about, he went out the right way in my opinion.
