<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CHARLOTTE, N.C. ? Clippers forward Corey Maggette will not play tonight against Charlotte. Maggette and second-year swingman Quinton Ross flew home Thursday for examinations. Maggette will have a CT scan today on his injured left foot. Ross is scheduled for an epidural to ease back spasms. Maggette, the Clippers' second-leading scorer at 21.7 points per game, will miss his ninth consecutive game because of a mid-left foot sprain. Ross, who missed two games earlier this season because of back spasms, will be out for the second consecutive game tonight. Ross is the team's best perimeter defender and routinely draws the toughest defensive assignment each game. "No Corey, no Q, no Z (Zeljko Rebraca)," point guard Sam Cassell said, "but all teams go through injuries. We're still going to fight. We're still going to play hard every game. "The good thing is that they'll all be back at some point. They're not out for the season. We'll just tread some water for now." Maggette was playing at an All-Star level until he stepped on teammate Chris Wilcox's foot while shooting an off-balance jumpshot Dec.5 against Miami. Before that, Maggette had scored 20-plus points in 10 of the previous 12 games. "We miss Corey for his offensive production, for his defense, for everything he does for us out on the court," forward Elton Brand said. Despite daily treatment and rest, Maggette's recovery has been slow. He said Thursday he is unable to run full speed, cut sharply or simulate any game-like situations. "It's tough watching my teammates out there, knowing that I could be a big help to them," Maggette said. "It puts more pressure on Elton, Sam and Cuttino (Mobley). It makes the games harder for us because we really don't have that fourth scorer. "I'd give anything to be able to be on the floor with my teammates. That's my New Year's resolution, to stay healthy."</div> Source
We really do miss CMag. We've gone 3-5 without him so far. Despite the tough schedule we had, some of the games were very winnable and I think we could've pulled them off if Corey was in the lineup. Get healthy soon CMag!
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Clippers forward Corey Maggette will be out at least four more weeks because of an injured left foot. The 26-year-old Maggette, the Clippers' second-leading scorer, hasn't played since a 99-89 victory over the Miami Heat on Dec. 5. He scored 13 points in that game before landing on another player's foot at the end of the third quarter. It was thought Maggette had a sprained left foot, and he was listed as day-do-day. But he returned to Los Angeles on Thursday, a day after the Clippers lost at Indiana 97-75, and a CT scan revealed a small separation of the ligament between the bones in the foot, team physician Dr. Tony Daly said. </div> Maggette to miss at least four more weeks
That's a tough blow, I really don't understand why he's so injury prone, while he does take a beating every game, the guy also takes care of his body, but that really doesn't make you durable though. Your makeup could just be that way, ah well...
Its going to be hard for the Clippers to beat playoff level teams without Maggette because nobody else really gets to the line on this team...Brand can but Cassell and Mobley dont. So this is going to be strickly a jumpshooting team until Maggette retuns...and its hard to be playoff caliber teams being strickly jumpshooting...they had a strong inside pressence against the Bobcats. But that isnt a playoff level team. I was looking at the schedule for January and lookly for the Clips they play alot of jumpshooting teams..so they could still have a decent amount of success without Maggette for the additional 4 weeks. But they need Sammy to step it backup, he has struggled since the return of Livingston...mainly cause he doesnt have the ball in his hands as much. But the Clippers are going to need him to get it together.
