For a guy that avereges 25 and 10 a game Elton Brand is not getting much credit Amare Stoudimire who has not played one game this season has more all-star votes than a guy who is worthy of an MVP trophy. Do any of you guys think Elton Brand is underratted?

He's never played on a good NBA team (before this season) and doesn't have a flashy game. Yes, he's underrated.

Honestly, over the last five years I can only think of four or five that have been better than him -- Duncan, Garnett, Nowitzki, Webber, Malone. And Webber has fallen off dramatically the last few years.

This year, he's played better than anyone at his position.

All Star votes are not a measurment for saying a player is overrated/underrated. It's a popularity contest. MJ didn't get voted in in his last season, was he underrated?

In the past, Brand has been underrated, but this season, he's getting full credit as deserved. People are calling him for MVP so far this season. So he's finally getting his props.

He was before, but this season with him putting up even bigger numbers, and winning, he's rated exactly where he should be.

No doubt. 38 and 20 is just ridiculous.

Right on the money. Elton was the best underrated player up until this season. He's still a little underrated right now though in that Amare has more all-star votes than him. You might not think this means anything but it's still an annoyance that someone who's being mentioned in MVP talks isn't getting more votes than another player who hasn't played a single freakin game this whole season.

Behind a player who hasn't even played this season (Amare)?

Allstar votes reflect the perception of how good a player is by the general fan. Clearly, the general fan severely underrates players like Brand.

I meant by the media and more hardcore basketball community. I do agree the general fan underattes him, but they also want to see dunks and highlights and Amare clearly outshines Brand there. Mid range jumpers aren't as exciting as a poster dunks.

The way I see it, he is slowly seperating himself from that label. The Clippers are slowly seperating themselves as the label of the "Other LA team" as well. And nobody can deny that Brand is the running for MVP and without question will be an All-Star this year. So for the most part, he is just a tad underrated but most def. not the most underrated player anymore especially with recognition he is now starting to get. Winning cures everything, doesn't? Amares Better
He gets 25+ a game when he is on a team full of scorers, and he gets 9 rebounds a game next to Shawn Marion.... Hes better than Elton Brand standing next to that creep Kaman and getting 11 a game... 25 points a game on a team with 2 and a half scoring options ( mobley being the half, maggette being the second )...
cant say hes better than amare, im sorry that ur wrong i know you meant well
