Do you think the Houston Rockets make the playoffs? Yes or no.

I think they still have a good shot, I think were like 10-15. Just need some players to come back from injuries and try to make the 500 by the all star break, and by then a lot of players should be back.

So to me, I think we are a 7-8 seeded team. If Yao comes back sooner, maybe 6th.

I also heard from I think Matt Bullard that Sura was not coming back this season.

Yao will probably be out till after the allstar break. Doctors say it will take 6 weeks for Yao to start to train, not actually play. And he probably won't be in basketball shape until some time in March.

Right now, this team looks like Orlando circa 2003-2004. I'm not optimistic we'll make the playoffs.

Not to take anything from Yao's doctors, I was wondering why the physical fitness training and conditioning is not included in the six weeks Yao will be gone. Being in the medical field myself, it takes only a while for his surgical wounds to heal and the antibiotic treatment to be applied. By the time his wounds heals probably about two weeks he can already begin doing some rehabilitation, excercise and strengthening. It's not the same as Sura's injury or Howards heart ailments wherein you have to take a lot of rest to recover. Anyway you can't blame the doctors. Malpractice lawsuits are prevalent in the US so the doctors wants to make sure their patients are fully ok eventhough to the extent that some injuries are very minor ones that takes only little time to heal.

I believe that the Rockets do still have chances to make the playoffs. Probably in the 6-8 seed. Let's just hope everyone (especially TMac) won't allow their frustrations rule over them otherwise they'll continue to play uninspired the rest of the way.

Well Dike comes back soon and we will at least havea center then. Soon Rafer A LEGIT PG and Anderson (some scoring off of the bench) will return. By then I think we will have more than enough to win games [IMG]

I am not going to count out the Rockets just yet. If we can stay near the 500 by the time Ming comes back (and Sura MIGHT be back at the same time if he is coming back) we will no doubt make the playoffs imo.

It's still quite hard to imagine the Rockets not in the playoffs. Although I wasn't so optimistic to claim the team contenders at the beginnning of the season, I used to and still think that this team is good for at least 50 wins and a top 6 finish in the West. Maybe it's hard to reach 50 wins now, but the season is still pretty young and when we get a full roster back, we can make some noise in the playoffs.

I do see a huge makeover this coming offseason though; the veterans on this team are too old to contribute, and they won't be able to help Yao and TMac get to a championship in the near future.

I think the Rockets will make it, at worst as an 8th seed...I believe teams like GS and the lakers will eventually fall...

And may I ask how you calculated that percentage? [IMG]

I agree with Rocket in that most teams like LAL and maybe GS (maybe) will fall out. One injury to one of those teams, and they will lose games faster than malasis.

    wtf is malasis.

It looks ugly right now, but like one poster said if we can stay around the
.500 mark until Yao gets back, I think we have a good shot........We still haven't seen this team even close to full strength yet, so I think we can still do a lot of damage when everyone gets healthy.

Our team will be one of the premiere teams in nba and we will make the playoffs once everyone becomes healthy and once a certain person plays up to standars/potential we will be one of the preimiere teams in nba and could put together a detroit like run.

Well thinking about it 8th seed wouldn't be too bad cause then we face the Spurs in the 1st round, where they will probably be a little cocky and overconfident. Then, by a few miracles, we might be able to knock them down and ride the rest of the way to the playoffs.

I still think we have a pretty good shot, cause once Rafer, Barry, and Anderson back, we will have enough perimeter threats to pound the enemy when McGrady draws double and triple teams. Deke will also be back too, momentarily. Lonny Baxter, Luther Head, Stephen Graham, and Stromile Swift will only get better. We will get to sign new FA's from expiring contracts next year anyway.

By the way, Stephen Graham is explosive and Lonny Baxter is a monster rebounder.

Plus you never know about the playoff race. To me, Memphis never looked good, cause I always thought they had an easy schedule. Golden State has lost 5 in a row, and you never know when Baron Davis is going to get injured. The LA Clippers are hot though, and the Suns had 9 straight wins once, and we're not talking about Stoudemire. The Nuggets are struggling, the Kings struggling and dealing with injuries, Timberwolves somehow have 3rd their Division, Wally Szczerbiak looking like he is back in his all star form.

It would be pretty weird getting 8th seed and facing Dallas again, wouldn't it? If we lose another 1st round of the playoffs, we just might make McGrady break down and cry.

I guess the Rockets is trying to pull an Astros on us going so low under .500 I do hope they could pull off an Astros instead of the Texans.

Welcome from me and the rest of the Rockets Forum!

Anyways, I definitely think the Rockets will make the playoffs at around the sixth and eighth seed. Doesn't matter where we end up though, I'm pretty sure the team will get back together by the end of the season and could end up stronger than our record suggests. Here's to a potential upset everyone.
