Part of being a True Fan is knowing your team's weaknesses as well as their strengths; a Bandwagon Fan would know only the strengths and be completely ignorant of the weaknesses.

I can very easily list the ways of how to beat Kobe. But in preperation for the big Christmas Game, I'm asking you, the loyal Heat fans, what are the ways to beat D.Wade? What are some things that teams have done to contain him?

I guess I will be the first to post in this thread even though i'll be the first to admit I don't follow the Heat as much as I do the Magic. The way to beat Wade is to force him to score from the perimeter. Almost all of his points come from his ability to drive to the hoop and either make a lay-up, put up a mid-range jumper or drawing a foul and knocking down free throws. If a team can take away his lane to the basket, Wade won't be as much of a factor in the game. Make him get his points behind the arc and force him to put up the long range shots. Also, Wade gets a lot of open looks because teams focus on shutting down Shaq first and Wade second. If the Lakers can get Shaq in foul trouble it will hurt Wade's game because he will be forced to create for himself instead of getting open looks because of Shaq.

Yep. Make him shoot long jumpers, dare him to shoot. Although it could easily backfire and he'd get on fire.

Make him shoot long jumper. Chances are that he won't make many.

The idea is make him shoot long range jumpers, but it's almost impossible to force him to do that, the guy can get in the lane at will. 17 feet in is good for him too, since he can hit shots from there well, but I don't know if their's any specific way. If you can keep him outside, even if he's making them, it will keep your big's out of foul trouble, and you could also try to get him to commit some turnovers.

Force him to play defense. I see too, many teams allow the Heat to hide Wade on defense and not attack him. He's usually shorter than the player he's guarding, but teams don't take advantage of forcing him to defend in the post. Right now Wade is not very good at anticipating on defense, and you can get him to commit some cheap fouls. Also forcing him to play defense will wear him down offensively.

Today the Lakers got Wade into foul trouble by attacking him. Riley had no choice, but to put Wade on Kobe, and it resulted in Wade getting 3 fouls in the 1st half and then an early foul in the 3rd quarter. The Heat basically played an entire quarter without Wade. Unfortunately, Gary Payton had a break out game against his former team.

You also saw it in the New Jersey game. Vince Carter was very aggressive and even though Wade didn't get into foul trouble, he really struggled on offense. He only managed to shoot 4 for 20 from the field.

He's easy to say, force Wade to take jumpers, but it's a lot harder to get him to take them. He's a very smart player, because he knows his limits and won't force his jumpshot unless he's making them. Even if you give him room and tempt him to shoot the jumper, he's more inclined to use the space you give him as a headstart to set up his drives.

The only other areas I see Wade struggle is when you force him to pick up his dribble from 6 to 8 feet in the paint. He's not very good at shooting those close range jumpers and using baby hooks to get a shot off. Again this is a lot easier said than done, and usually Wade can find the open man in these situations.

I still think the best way to attack him is making him play defense and getting him into foul trouble. He's just too, good an offensive player right now. So you have to take the approach similar to what teams do to the Colts offense. You keep them off the field by, the way to keep Wade off the court is getting him into early foul trouble.

wade is unbeatable..................just kidding, but anyways don't let him drive close to the basket you'll never know what he might do if he does then just give him a hard foul and don't let him get that and1 basket

I agree with shapecity, make him work on the other end of the floor. Even when you "give" him the shot he rarely takes it. Get him tired by making him D up and hopefully that affects his offense.

I agree with Shape-force him to play D; to move; to expend energy..thats step one...

also, double team him every time he puts the ball on the floor...make him a catch-and shoot player...he's a much better shooter off the dribble than he is when he just catches and shoots it...

also, be physical with him...give him a hard foul every now and then, and when he trails screens, make it difficult and physical for him...

I agree with the above posts, you need to make Dwayne work but his shot is really on lately but he is also the type of player that will make you guard his teamates because he gets them involved.

    this is easy!!!
    how to beat wade???
just match him up with a good defender (preferably KOBE coz he is the best in 1vs1 defense! look what he did to carter, t-mac, sprewell even wade on x-mas) and tell the guy to concentrate on him on DEFENSE.
maybe if you're not gonna match him up 1vs on D then maybe a little Help D could do it...
