Some speculation has the trade working out like this ... IND receives George ($5M) & Odom ($11.5M) TOR receives Bender ($7.1M) & Slava ($3M) & Miami Draft Pick LAL receives Artest ($6.5M) & Rose ($15.6M) Basically TOR jumped in on the deal to unload Rose, get a draft pick, and free up cap space. Bender will be retiring as well.

Aight...somebody clear this up for me....why isn't BSPN reporting this? Why is the only site with any knowledge of this huge trade a third-tier party that I don't feel comfortable putting stock in? I hate to be a downer but I want some evidence of this trade.... Other than that, those who say this trade doesn't make sense are kinda dumb...the salaries work.. and every team gets some cap room (the lakers just have to wait a while for theres) and every team but the raptors (sorry medvledenko) gets some talent out of it lol
If the Lakers are going to trade away Odom and Kwame, they better get a solid big man in return, otherwise we will be screwed no matter how good our guards are.

Now places like BSPN, Fox, etc. won't officially break the news until all the paperwork is done. However, Chad Ford just released an Insider article on where Artest is needed so something is definitely going down VERY SOON. Two things which, really improved the Lakers offer was Camby getting injured. With Camby injured, the Nuggets are really thin in the front court and they might have to use their trade assets to acquire a big man and not another SF, since they already have Melo. The injury to Camby also has the TWolves backing off Artest, because they have a great shot at taking their division, and they might need to counter a move later on depending on what Denver does. Just keep those fingers crossed for Rose & Artest joining the Lakers.

With Lamar gone, his 6 points and 6 boards will seriously be very key to our sucess...i know..doesn't sound like much but it will. Mihm will need to step up, and I hope to see more PT for Bynum, not to mention Turiaf when he returns...if he returns...there's talk of him going overseas.

He gets to move back to the PF position and he can just focus on rebounding and passing since the Pacers have plenty of guys who like to shoot. Larry Bird recently said he would welcome a player who rebounds and passes well and is an unselfish scorer. Odom certainly fits the profile. Odom also gives the Pacers a lot flexibility with their rotations, which is something Carlisle prefers with his roster. As far as the Pacers saying they didn't want long term deals, it could just be a smokescreen to try and pry away younger talent. However, if they add Odom their core is set for the next 3 seasons with O'Neal-Odom-Granger-SJax-Jasikevicius. Ideally LA doesn't want to trade Odom, but the organization has grown leary of him and they would likely unload him if they get back Rose & Artest.
I just wrote Sam Amico (the guy that wrote the article on PBN about Artest to the Lakers) an email asking him his thoughts on this trade and the reality of it happening. If and when he writes back I'll be sure to post it for you guys
This deal makes no sense for Indiana. All they get back for an all-star and former DPOY is George? please, Donnie Walsh is one of the best GM's around. I fail to see why he will get raped in any deal. Only way I see this actually being true is If the Lakers give Indy Odom as well. Great deal for L.A but the source isn't exactly great. Wasn't this the same site that said Paul Pierce was on his way to Denver?
No need to cross fingers. I can assure you this trade is throughly done. I just cant figure out whats the hold up. Ron's agent said it would be done by the end of the week. Well tommorow is friday. Give the guy a Lakers jersey and let him play. Why am I so confident this went through. Well Flo Anthony who is a radio gossip lady is the cousin of Gregg Anthony on BSPN. So i asked her about the possibility of Ron coming to L.A. She said she looks forward in seeing Kobe and Artest Flourish together. I also spoke to BSPN and also Philly columnist Stephen A. Smith yesterday morning and said both teams are waiting for some additions and stuff. But if u dont believe me. I got his cell which I promised not to give out. But ya laker haterz can call him and see was up. His number is 215-854-5846
Can this deal work without Odom leaving? If so, I'll be worried about playing Lamar at PF again. Anyway, I HOPE this deal falls through. Kobe and Artest together would be amazing.

I guess if Odom is being offered they may just take it becasue he may be the best player available for them but you have to remember there is absolutely no mention of him in the article and without him the trade doesnt work.

Quoting rocky votolato:

What would be the pros and cons of having Artest on the Lakers?
Pros - Immediate improvement on defense - Consistent effort every night - Knows the Triangle already - Increase in physical intensity on the court - Gives the Lakers a post up scorer - Cap friendly contract Cons - Where's his head at? - Tendency to pick up Technical fouls - Loss of overall length - Team passing ability likely dips - Can he get along with his teammates? - Will he be distracted by the L.A. scene?
