Daily Dime on ESPN reports: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A source close to the Lakers told ESPN.com that Lamar Odom had received reassurance from the team, which told him he had not been included in any trade offers made to the Indiana Pacers. The Lakers were apparently responding to rumors floating around the league that Los Angeles had become open to the idea of trading Odom in a Ron Artest deal. </div> *Sigh* - break down....if this is true than I'm not sure how this trade would ever work or if Indy would even be interested in making it work. Secondly....if this is true and the Lakers do pull it off than the Lakers will seriously contend for a title with Rose, Kobe, Artest, Odom, and my grandma at center.... *Sigh* speculation....I find it interesting that ESPN never reports anything about this trade to it's audience directly (like Probasketballnews and SI did), it merely tells us what scenario isn't going to happen....

BSPN hasn't been the first to report any trades for a long time. They won't be the first to report any Artest trade, they'll only be the first to report it when it's "official."
"I still think my past haunts me here. I think somewhere else I'm starting fresh. I'm coming in with baggage, but people already know about it and how I'm going to be." Now that Kobe, Phil, Mitch, and Buss know for sure that not only will Artest help on the defensive end, he'll also be able to fill up the ground level seats at Staples Center. He lets give Artest a new nickname! Ron Ron doesnt sound Lakerish. My Suggestion: "RonStoppable" Whats yours?
Come on aleady Damn it. My eyes are litterally glued to BSPNEWS! Come on Mitch do it for the ratings! Lakers vs. Indiana Monday, January 9th 7:30 pm (TV: FSN, NBALP) (Radio: XTRA 570/ ESPN 1330)

theyre doing it just to piss us fans off.the deals probably done and the players are prob half way to their destinations. but i seriously hope that george is not the main piece the pacers get!
Shape, Do you think we can get a " Breaking News " Box like somewhere on the corner of this site? lol So Freaking anxious!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">It will be on the front page once a deal is official.</div> Once the Laker deal is done! lol
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dtpxcore:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Kwame is leaving instead of Odom, on BSPN it said No Odom for Artest</div> That'll actually be really good for Kwame. Kwame and Jermaine train with each other in the offseason. If Kwame doesn't bring his offensive game out there, than there is no hope for him. That is a scary front court Indy would have, Jermaine and Kwame's defense, his offensive game pending. Yet, with all the fighting, it has to be Lamar on his way out. Kobe and Lamar can't co-exist. They just proved it, it's hurting the organization too much and it needs to be resolved soon.
i think the Kobe Lamar thing is BS, if the Lakers can't get the deal done by next week then i think it's dead.
I am starting to believe that Larry Bird doesnt want to ship Artest to Lakers because he doesnt want to ever come close to their 16 championships.
The Lakers are already close, they're at 14. Plus, I'm sure he'd rather see Artest out West, that way he doesn't have to face him in the playoffs.
Your right. Oh well. I guess youll be hearing this in the finals this year. Lakers VS Pistons. " Artest is in the stands! " Oh hes just celebrating a championship with the fans.
I hope this trade goes down. The Lakers team chemistry is already messed up as is. After watching them this season, I thought they made a turnaround with kobe becoming a leader and trusting his teamates but the past few games has shown that Kobe has not matured. Kobe can become a MVP player if he is able to involve his teamates in the offense. Jordan never grasped the idea of teamwork until he failed in the playoffs because he believed he could take out teams all by himself. I hope you do the right thing Mitch Kuptchak, pull the trigger even if we have to give up Odom (talented yet incapable of becoming an efficient player). Sometimes I think Odom is overrated because he plays so soft. Not to Bash on him but I've been a laker fan all my life and I think the best thing for Laker fans right now is a new scenario. Aggressive players namely Ron Artest.
As more as it looks like it isn't going to happen, don't count anything out. Rumors like that always come at, reassuring the fans that a player is staying, and then boom he's gone.
Couple things....hopefully Odom leaves because if it wasn't bad enough that he was inconsistent- if he doesn't get along with Kobe, they might as well ship him out. We need someone that has the fire and work ethic like Kobe does...you all know who I'm talking about. Also, the fact that Kobe is fueding with Lamar might make management reconsider trading Odom...for Artest. The fact that everyone is reporting that Lamar is safe shows us a couple of things: First off...that there have been serious talks between the Lakers and Indiana...also- that he's probably not safe. Since when do GM's ever tell there players or the media or their fans the truth?
The pros are epic, but if the cons win out at the end of the season... thats whats REALLY going to kick our ass. It could really come back to haunt us if this trade goes down. Kobe told Kcal today that Odom has been such a product on the triangle. Phil isn't ready to demolish his triangle offense only after three months. Odom and Kobe ARE the triangle, nobody is really willing to demolish what they worked for all summer. It's just too soon, if the package holds to frebruary then its more then likely. Kobe has been pleading for Mitch to not trade Odom away. Being that Mitch is the easiest man in the world to manipulate.... I just don't see it happening. Besides, Jordan used to beef it with Pippen, and Magic and Bird mouthed off to a lot of their teammates as well. It's just the leaders role. Another thing is that Kobe has been friends with Lamar since right after high school, I don't think he would want to lobby his "closest friend on the team." But hey, its the NBA. Its professional sports... its life... anything can happen
