Guess what Maverick fans. We can now say that everyone on our team is healthy. But now this is what i dreaded and that's time distribution. We have at least 10 players that deserve time and can help us. My fear will be Avery putting Dirk at the 5, just to play our sea of gaurds. Devin has been playing like a maniac, and Jason is showing he still should start. This will be a good game to start our season to with a struggling good team. Match-up that matters: Marquis Daniels v. Jason Richardson. Jason Richardson has turned into a good scorer behind Baron and they are probably the best back-court in the west. Marquis will have to get to the basket as much as he can, that way he can pick up some bull crap calls on Jason, cuz he's not a strong defender. If Quis' can get it going early, we should have enough to leave with a win. Predicted Minutes: PG-Terry 24/Harris24 SG-Daniels 23/Howard 15/Stack 10 SF-Howard 19/Stack 19/Griffin 10 PF-Nowitzki 34/Van Horn 14 C-Dampier 20/Diop 20/Mbenga 4 I had to edit in this quote in by our beloved coach. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"People say you don't want to ever have 10 or 12 guys that can play, [because] you can't find minutes for them," Johnson said. "Give me that problem."</div>
Good man samoan, I was just coming in to help out with this thread I am going away for a week, from the 1st to the 8th or so..so i need everyone to pick up the slack and post a few times extra.
I think minutes setup should look like this. Dampier 28 min/Diop 20 min Nowitzki 35 min/Van Horn 13 min Howard 35 min/Griffin 13 min Daniels 28 min/Stackhouse 20 min Terry 26 min/Harris 22 min.
i think DA will also see some minutes at the 1 if DH or JET go on a TO spree. i have a bad feeling that were gona see a lot of our mavs get dunked on or something...i just hope we win tho
Gotta watch out for dallas native Ike Diogu..Its his home coming game and he's also got the starting job for the Warriors. This is going to be a fun game to watch. The Warriors will jack up 3 pointers all night long and feed Diogu in the post..
Yep, the Warriors shoot the most threes in the league but they hit at a horrid percentage. we gotta make sure they dont get above 40% with their 3's
Dallas looking like they playing some good ball already, 26-21 with 3 minutes left in the 1st Damp with 7 rebounds, Howard with 4 assists, Dirk with 8 points, Dallas has 0 turnovers
then baron davis hits a shot...there is .05 seconds...that missed call hurt bad...dirk was going to the rim like he should in that situation.
yay we lost. it was such a close one!!! i cant believe the refs didnt call that foul on dirk, if they did we'd at least be in OT now. besides that, i dont think the other mavs played their usual self in this game, but still, i think this is a game we should have won.
Warriors 111 Mavs 109 Grades: Warriors Close on a 7-0 run. Dirk did get fouled hard on his weakside drive but no-calls are part of the game. The problem is that this one should never have gotten that close. The Warriors started out strong, but the Mavs caught them in the first period and spread the margin in the second period. The Warriors came out strong in the third, but the Mavs were a step slow. The Mavs lost the game because they couldn?t protect a 4 point lead with a minute left in the game. The Mavs vaunted defense was a no show late as the Warriors backcourt got it going in the second half of this game as Golden State outscored the Mavs 59 to 47 to end the game. The Mavs focus on rebounding also took a beating as the Mavs got out rebounded 43-37. I could possibly understand tonight?s game if it were on the road; but it was a home game. Laura Green : A+; Laura provided incredible insight from the sidelines providing interesting tidbits and was a quick relay to Avery?s thoughts out of timeouts. +30 Johnson: D, Avery gave a winnable game away due to a lack of defense. Tonight was the first game this season that the Mavs had their complete roster ready to go, but obviously the Mavs weren?t ready for the rotation changes. The game is on the line and Avery doesn?t go with what has worked lately, especially when they need a stop. All Devin could do was watch from the bench. The Mavs were out hustled in the third and just flat out got hustled by Richardson and Davis. Howard: C- : Josh normally is a solid double-double, but not tonight. Josh got to 13 points off of 17 shots but had only 2 rebounds. Zero turnovers. +8 Nowitzki: C, Dirk led the Mavs with 24 points off of 8-14 shooting and grabbed 9 rebounds. Unfortunately Dirk led the Mavs in turnovers with 5. Dirk did get hacked on his last shot, an interesting no-call considering his ?super star? status. +25 Dampier: B-, Erick delivered what the Mavs needed with 11 rebounds (5 offensive), 4 blocked shots, 7 points and Zero turnovers. Unfortunately, Erick?s biggest goof was turning his back on former team mate Foyle who dropped in the easy two with less than a minute to play. It?s all about what have you done for me lately. +20 Daniels: B-, Marquis came back to the starting lineup after being gone with a neck sprain suffered against a hard foul by Kurt Thomas. Like Erick, a good effort by Daniels with 12 points (6-8 shooting), 7 assists and Zero turnovers. Nevertheless the play of the game was Baron Davis pulling up over Marquis for the game winner. Again, it?s all about what have you done for me lately. +24 Terry: C+, Jason had a decent night shooting with two treys on his way to 14 points (6-9 FG, 2-2 treys) but struggled with foul troubles going against Baron. Marquis found Jason for a potential game winning shot as time expired, but Jason missed his third shot of the night long. Zero turnovers. Ditto. +13 Harris: C; Devin pitched in with 12 points (4-9 FG, 4-8 FT) along with 2 steals and 2 assists. +7 Stackhouse: B-, Jerry had a pretty good game backing up Dirk with 19 points off the bench. Jerry even went 1-2 from behind the arc. Nevertheless dropping in treys is still not Jerry?s strong suit. Zero turnovers. +19 Griffin: C+; Adrian had one of the biggest adjustments, going from starter to 10 minutes off the bench. Adrian grabbed 4 rebounds and one steal. Zero turnovers. +3 Van Horn: C-, Keith returned to the lineup after being out with flu-like symptoms (Rolando had them tonight). Keith pitched in 8 points, but like Dirk was quite loose with the ball for 3 turnovers. Interesting how Dirk and Keith provided 8 of the Mavs 9 turnovers tonight. +6 Diop: C, DeSagana picked up a steal, an offensive board and a blocked shot in 10 minutes. Zero turnovers. +2 Armstrong : C, Darrell got two minutes in the first half picking up 2 fouls. +0 M?Benga: DNP-CD. Powell: DNP-CD. Josh isn?t hurt, but was inactive tonight. Marshall : Rawle has been sent to the Fort Worth Flyers (NBDL) to get playing time. Podkolzin: DNC-CD, Pavel had surgery to repair his right foot and ankle and is expected to miss three months. Typical Chef Ed Type
Devin Harris is really good in short spurts. If you have him out there a long time he starts making more mental mistakes. Also Stackhouse's defense on Richardson or Fisher was horrible. He acts like they aren't 3 point threats and starts leaving them. There were 2 horrible calls in the last 2 minutes. The first was Jason Terry getting knocked down at the rim which I believe led to a 3 pointer on the other end for Golden State to tie. The second was Dirk getting knocked down.
There were a few questionable calls made on Foyle, such as the block on Stackhouse that got the W's bench yelling. I don't know if you can blame the refs for this one as you did give up a 10 point lead. See you next time...it was a very exciting game to watch regardless of the outcome.
This was the best game I've seen all year. I'm a huge warrior fan, but I have to say, the Mavs are legit this year. Josh Howard and Devin Harris have really stepped up their game, and AJ has this team playing defense. If they could get another veteran big body to come off the bench *Like Ervin Johnson* I think the Mavs can contend with SA and Phoenix to win the west.
they are a really good team, but i dont think they can match last year's team. they lost two pretty big players in q, and jj...i know i might catch some slack in saying q-rich, but as far as the number of games they won and how high he was scoring, he was a big contributor, and same for jj. they still have nash, marion, and amare(when he comes back), but i still dont think they will be as quite as good. nash cant defend and he is the one in charge of stopping penetration from the other guards...thats a big thing. t hey will loose in the first round, at the best the second round...just my opinion.

Plus the addition of Kurt Thomas gives them a legit rebounder. If amare comes back healthy, they are better suited for the playoffs then last years team.
