<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">FAR be it from me to suggest that Kobe Bryant is playing by his own set of laws, but Sam Smith is writing a sequel to "The Jordan Rules."
Kobe's doing it all these days, including wearing leotards as part of the civil settlement with his Colorado consensual partner, or so column contributor John Milich would have us believe.

There are the malevolent elbows of late to the heads, necks and chests of Dirk Nowitzki, Dwyane Wade, Caron Butler and Mike Miller, a message he's sending to anyone "who thinks they can come down the lane and look pretty and shoot jump shots, and dunk the ball, and finger-roll, and do all sort of that cute stuff."

There are the two air punches directed at Josh Howard, an automatic suspension the league has neglected to levy.

There is the foul mouthing of referees during and after games (Wednesday's loss to Memphis, for instance, when Kobe felt Dontae Jones fouled him on LA's next to last shot and could easily have been whistled for a charge, too).

There is the verbal abuse he heaps of teammates for not giving him the ball, making open shots off his feeds and generally being mere mortals. People sitting near L.A.'s bench for the Rockets and Wizards games were flabbergasted at the things he screamed at inferiors. Hopefully his ceaseless disrespectful commotion doesn't disturb Phil Jackson's meditation.

There is the smashing of lights and damaging of a TV monitor belonging to the Lakers' flagship station in front of the visitors locker room after Monday's setback in D.C. ? and a near brawl with Lamar Odom that sent the above equipment flying.

A source revealed (and another confirmed) things got mighty testy between Kobe and Odom moments after Bryant committed a critical turnover with about five seconds remaining on the game clock. Immediately, Kobe pinned the blame on Lamar for supposedly botching a pick-and-roll designed to stalemate the game with a 3-pointer.

As the pair got closer to the Lakers' dressing room, Kobe became more uncouth and Odom, who squared off with the Heat's Gary Payton after Miami's Christmas Day win, answered in kind. That's when Kobe went after Odom. In doing so, he kicked over the lights and a chair holding the TV monitor. Kobe's security force of two quickly intervened and separated the pair.

In the locker room they again exchanged heated words and challenges. The tension was so intense one of the security guys accompanied Odom to the back of the charter bus and sat nearby on the trip to the airport while the other sat in the front with Kobe, the last member of the Lakers to board. </div>

    Source

Wow! So much for the privacy issues the Lakers said they would enforce during the offseason. This is front row info into some serious locker room drama. Usually I take everything with a grain of salt when the NY Post (specifically Vecsey) writes a piece, but this sounds like it actually happened.

Meh...I will spin this the way I want to and say that this could be evidence that Lamar is on his way out...

Whether Kobe, Phil, or the Lakers will admit it- Kobe is probably informed of what moves the Lakers are making or plan to make. Could it be that Kobe know's Lamar is a goner and therefor- doesn't give a s.h.i.t what he thinks?

This is a bunch of crap. The media are overdoing it. Anyone who falls for the OTT article is a fool. I for one don't/didn't think that what was happening lately was because of huge inter-franchise fights or anything. Don't believe the hype.

    You gotta love drama.

Lamar plays like he doesn't care, that doesn't mesh well with Kobe. You can't expect Kobe to play his ass off every single game and have a player like Lamar, with all the talent in the world, not show up and look like he doesn't care. Things will get heated. One of them has to be gone, and I'll tell you right now, it's not Kobe.

It's funny how with all Laker fans, Kobe is always right, no matter what.

That's not always the case. Your sterotysing us. What else would you expect anyway of the main man at our ball club? I'm sure if your best player Chris Bosh or whoever it is(not too sure) got into an imaginary fight that the media made up you would defend him.

Maybe Mr. Wade is right though, there's always two sides to every story and we really havent heward Lamars only Kobe's. I know Kobe IS you franchise but you guys have to be realistic and consider the fact that maybe it is Kobe causing all these problems.

I would have expected better from you. Please read what "Mr.Wade" said. Surely you have enough sense to see that what he said was pretty stupid.

He say's ALL LAKER FANS. This means each and every one of us. Now, playmaker15, do you still agree with what he said?

[IMG] I'm not sure if that was a cheap shot, or if you really don't know that Chris Bosh is the Raptors' best player.

Maybe Kobe is causing all of the problems. But you have to understand Kobe is the franchise player, you don't get rid of Kobe, you get rid all the problems. The Lakers are building a team around Kobe's skillset and personality. Unless, that changes, then people who don't mix with Kobe need to be traded for people who do fit.

As a Laker fan I don't care what Lamar Odom's side of the story is. He's a 7 year pro making the same stupid mistakes he's been making since High School. The only thing Odom is getting better at are the excuses he keeps coming up with.

I know you follow the Miami Heat, the same thing applies with Shaq. You think it's a coincedence Eddie Jones was shipped out once Shaq arrived? Him and Shaq do not get along because Shaq does not trust him in big game situations. Pat Riley and the Heat are committed to building the team around him and any players on the roster who have problems or issues with Shaq are going to see the exit doors.

Well to be honest, I don't really know who the Raptors best player is. Secondly, it varies between people as to who the best player is. I'm not sure if you are trying to change the subject or something [IMG]

Let's not try and turn this into a Raptors vs Lakers thing. The only reason I mentioned the Raptors, was so playmaker15 could understand what I was trying to say. I don't need to take cheap shots at the Raptors.

Both Odom and Kobe have problems, like all people. However Kobe is a much more talented basketball player, so either Odom shapes up or ships out. and Odom's contract is pretty long and big.

    From BSPN News ...

    - Kobe and Odom have been friends since Kobe was 16

    - Odom has messed up twice, especially @ Washington

    - Verbal attacks towards Odom took place, nothin physical

    - Odom is denying verbal attacks

    - Kobe has let management know that he doesn't want Odom traded, not for Artest, not for anyone

    - They remain close friends

This was probably a minor story that the media overworded to make Kobe look bad..... again.

Thanks for the update, and very pimp graphics. It does sound like a an overhyped story, but when the Lakers are involved it usually is. These spats happen all the time in the locker room with teammates. At least Odom is starting to show some emotion. Fighting with Payton, fighting with Kobe, now he needs to take his fight to the court and play with some fire. These next two games without Kobe are going to be interesting. Lamar Odom will have to carry the team now, and he's going to have to do it against Andrei Kirilenko.
