hey guys what do you think, with mike james having a player option which he almost definately will excercise at years end maybe we dont have to give up a first round pick in order to move jalen here are a couple of articles that put a few different scenarios on the raptor trade front. The 30-year-old has an option to become a free agent after this season and since he's been enjoying a breakout year there's little doubt he'll make himself available to the highest bidder this summer. But whether the Raptors bid is the question. And if they don't bid, and are going to lose him as a free agent in August, do they put him on the trade market in February since he's one of the most marketable commodities — financially and athletically — that general manager Rob Babcock has? http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...ol=970081562040 If the pick would be Denver's, which Toronto got in the Vince Carter trade a year ago, news that Marcus Camby of the Nuggets is out indefinitely after surgery on his finger clouds the issue greatly. With Kenyon Martin bothered by a bad knee, Nene out for the season probably after a knee operation and now Camby on the shelf for a while, the Nuggets will be hard-pressed to hang on and make the playoffs in the Western Conference, which would give the Raptors two lottery picks next June. If Rose goes now, could Toronto give his 14 minutes a night to Eric Williams and showcase him for a possible February trade? http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...ol=970081562040
i think they should just trade the two for young prospects and picks and get w/e young things they can because the raptors are not goint to be contendors right now but if they focus on the youth the could contend in a few years
something i've been thinking about is sending mike james, aaron williams and denver's first rounder to denver for andre miller
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting deception:</div><div class="quote_post">something i've been thinking about is sending mike james, aaron williams and denver's first rounder to denver for andre miller</div> mike james could also be traded with jalen rose instead of the first round draft pick.
Andre Miller is too old to be involved with our youth movement, and Calderon will surpass him in 2 years anyway so what's the point. If we make any trades this year, I'm hoping they're for either: a) Cap flexibility. Young prospects. c) Draft Picks.

well..you can teach defense, but you cant teach leadership/court vision haha we you can teach him english too while you're at it

But then again, if Nash can get away w/ playing subpar defense, maybe Calderon can too (not saying that he's on Nash's level though)....
What could frustrate Rob Babcock, the Raptors GM, is a coming trade-deadline dilemma. Should he trade Mike James, the free agent-to-be, at the Feb. 23 cutoff and in doing so avoid the prospect of losing James, a la Donyell Marshall, for nothing? If the Raptors stay in eighth-place striking distance, moving James could turn off fans that haven't seen a home playoff game in nearly four years. But not working hard to trade James would be a bad gamble. Babcock, to be fair, could be under pressure from conflicting interests ? from a board of directors who'll push for prospective playoff revenue even if it's a pipe dream; from a coach who wants to win every game so he can secure a contract extension from his 2007 expiration date; and from the sane folks who don't want the Raptors to perpetuate a vicious cycle of mediocrity. Barely missing the playoffs or barely squeaking in ? both are as satisfying as coming fourth in the Olympics. Not good enough for real glory, not bad enough to get a top lottery pick ? no one wants to be that team. Or maybe someone does. source
nonononono we draft bargnani and all is well! Toronto is deep. we move cB4 to center and CV and Bargnani rotate in with him. We have our 3 man rotation there for PF/C we have 2 PGs If Mike James re-signs with us we have Mo Pete Joey Graham and Eric Williams to occupy SF/SG problem solved. 50 win season here we come!
