It does kind of seem too high for me, but I think it's great[IMG]

With the Nets win streak, and them actually beating good teams, I'd have to give them props too. The power rankings take into account how teams have been doing lately, not just overall record. Right now they look like they can beat many teams with higher records than them, and they just had a slow start

    My Power Rankings:

    1. Detroit Pistons
    2. San Antonio Spurs
    3. Dallas Mavericks
    4. Miami Heat
    5. New Jersey Nets
    6. Cleveland Cavaliers
    7. Phoenix Suns
    8. Memphis Grizzlies
    9. Golden State Warriors
    10. LA Clippers [till Maggette returns]

Well go ahead and do it, but everyone here knows you're biased against the Nets anyway.[IMG]

I agree that 4 may be a little high, but after a slow start, the Nets have proven to be an elite team in this league. We've already proven that we're better than the Cavs, and we've beaten quite a few solid teams during our run (the only easy wins being Orlando, Atlanta and NY). If we hadn't have taken so long to gel (and lost to teams like Toronto, Charlotte and SAC) we'd have one of the league's top 5 records.[IMG]

If you have actually seen a Nets game since they've started to play well, you'd see how badly they've been dominating good teams. Right now, I'd put us only behind Detroit, Dallas, SA, and maybe Phoenix and Miami.

But then again, a Carter-hater could easily name a few more teams better right?

I agree 4 is a bit too high, as these teams aren't of the elite (besides the Heat and possibly the Warriors), but the Nets are rolling. Carter's been the leading scorer for the Nets 7/8 of the games during the streak. What's making me happy is that Jefferson, doesn't have to be a focal point on offense, but he'll still be extremely effective (sort of like during the Kittles/Martin era).

As long as their heads are still in high gear, the next two games won't be a problem. The games after that (SA, Memphis, Dallas, Indiana) will truly test how far the Nets can go without a strong frontcourt. Maybe then management should make a decision on possible trades to strengthen the frontcourt.

The nets are 17-12 while the Cavs are 18-10. Their only higher in the standings because they play in the Atlanitc. Consistency counts when naming a better team, and while the Nets are on a big streak now, you can't just forget about the beginning of the season. And power rankings aren't lists of the best teams, they are somebody's opinion about who is playing the best at that point in time. So while there might very well be 9 better teams, they aren't going to necessarily be higher on the rankings.
Just thought I'd throw this in too. NBA.com has them at 9 , with new rankings coming out Wednesday.

They've proven that they're a better team than the Cavs because they've defeated twice, once in Cleveland and once in NJ. You can't forget about the begginning of the season, but that is when new teammates get adjusted to eachother. The start of the season was a different for the Nets because it would be the first time J-Kidd, VC and RJ play together(asides from the 4 playoff games). A lot has changed since then, and it does look like that the Nets have proven to be the better team thus far.

Only the Spurs, Mavs, Suns, Heat, and Pistons are better then the Nets and by the way the Nets are playing right now they might be able to beat those teams too.

Well the Nets have only played Heat (1-1) and Suns (0-1). They haven't played any other team from that list.

9 Teams I'd take over the Nets:

    Detroit
    San Antonio
    Dallas
    Miami
    Cleveland
Indiana (With Artest or what they'll get for him)
    LA Clips
    Phoenix
    Washington

I left out Denver, Memphis and Miluawkee who I still believe are better than the Nets when fully healthy.

    There!

    Detroit- Better
    San Antonio- Better
    Dallas- Better
    Miami- Better (with Shaq)
    Cleveland- Worse
Indiana (With Artest or what they'll get for him)- ???
    LA Clips- Worse
    Phoenix- Better
    Washington- Worse

I'd put the Nets behind SA, Detroit, Phoenix, and Dallas right now, but nobody else.
