<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ESPN - If the Golden State Warriors now lead the Ron Artest Sweepstakes, as some of the other Artest suitors believe, don't expect a trade before Friday at the earliest. Reason being: Indy visits Golden State in a nationally televised game Thursday. Just a hunch but I'm guessing the Pacers would rather see Artest debut for his new team against someone else. The name of Warriors power forward Troy Murphy has been increasingly mentioned as a key component of any Warriors-Pacers swap, but it remains to be seen A) if Golden State would be willing to part with Murphy and if Indiana is truly prepared to absorb Murphy's contract (which runs for five more seasons beyond this one at $51 million).</div> http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...ht_be_involved/
I was watching NBA Fastbreak last night and Ric Bucher from ESPN said that the Warriors are the leading suitors for Artest in what would be Artest for Murphy and Pietrus....this would be ok for both teams I guess....Murphy plays PF though, but I guess you can run him as an undersized C and Pietrus is a solid SF....but GS would get a SF in Artest and no big man in return...which really screws them over to have NO post presence

That filler is probably Foster (he works salary-wise in the trade and GS would need to get a big man who can rebound). Artest and Diogu become our low post presence, not that Murphy brought much of that anyway.
No, I dont think Ric said Pacers are going to give them a Filler, i mean I like this trade personally for the Pacers. They get rid of Artest and get Murphy who can play SF. Also they get Micheal Pietrus who can develop and me an awesome SF.
unfortunately murph cannot!!!!! play sf he is just too slow on defence to do it. if he comes to the pacers they would have to employ a dual pf lineup with Jo and TM alternating on defense between the opposing 4 and 5. i see a line up like this: Pg-Mel Mel Sg-Pietrus Sf-jackson,(cause hes taller than P) Pf-JO Pf-Troy
Warrios may do the Artest /Foster for Murphy/Pietrus...as a GSW fan I likely would not as Artest may bolt when his deal expires..but without Foster we lose our only real good big,our best RBD guy,and we give up a FAST,Cheap,young,SF/SG talent who is also a good defender. Short term,a plus for GSW,long term, not so good and maybe a major mistake. Leave Foster out of the deal and the W's take a risk they don't need. Personally I'd love a frontcourt of J O,Murphy,Pietrus.
When is this trade going down? I am tired of not hearing anything happen. The longer this takes, the less enthusiastic I get about this trade. I mean I want Artest bad, but I hate the thought of losing guys like Murphy or Pietrus...
I think the Pacers want Al Harrington, so I think a trade would involve Hawks and some other team. This is the Lakers opening to get Artest.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting 707to805:</div><div class="quote_post">^^and who can the lakers offer? george?</div> I would think Odom would be an attractive player for the Pacers...
^^if i was the lakers, i'd jump at that...i just think the package the w's are offering is superior. i sure wouldn't give murph and peitrus for odom.
alleged offers may be firm, fuzzy,or fictional. Artest is not overpaid...yet,but also is not locked up for long. Artest also has a stack of "baggage" that hurts his market value. Take away the assorted suspensions,blow-ups,flaky statements and he's worth more to anyone...including the Pacers. Harrington could be a good target,ATL might feel they had a better chance to extend Artest, while Indy may have a better hope of keeping Harrington. Possibly both could have contract extensions drawn up,activated if the trade goes through.
I think this trade would be pretty fair. Murphy's a solid scorer and rebounder, Pietrus is a good scorer and a decent perimeter defender. JO doesn't have a problem playing the 5, as he's matched up against opposing centers on both offensive and defensive ends at times when Foster was starting. Pietrus starting at the 3 would work out well too, and he could cover the opposing team's best perimeter player. The Pacers were already one of the deepest teams in the league, and they only get deeper with this trade. They'd have Saras, Freddie, Granger, and Croshere off the bench. When healthy it could look like: C: Jermaine O'Neal PF: Troy Murphy SF: Mickael Pietrus SG: Stephen Jackson PG: Jamaal Tinsley On Golden State's standpoint, they'd have probably the best backcourt trio in the NBA, possibly even better than NJ's Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson. Add in two young players with great potential in Diogu and Biedrins and you have one helluva starting 5. Dun and Fisher off the bench can provide extra scoring, Foyle and Foster with the dirty work, and two more players with some potential in Cabarkapa and Taft. All they would need if this were to happen is to strengthen their bench, and they could be considered contenders in the future. Keeping Artest in check, they could have: C: Andris Biedrins or Adonal Foyle PF: Ike Diogu or Jeff Foster SF: Ron Artest SG: Jason Richardson PG: Baron Davis
I wish this trade would have gone down. I knew it was too good to be true. Congrats to Indy for holding their cards. I love Peja. He or Magette would have been great. Good trade for both teams. Now I am rooting for Artest to go bonkers in Sac and just watch the team implode...
