<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady will miss the next two games and be re-evaluated Friday after a recurrence of the back spasms that have bothered him this season. McGrady grabbed his back and crumpled to the floor Sunday night as the first half ended in the Rockets' 92-90 loss to Denver. He scored 11 points in the first half. McGrady, who topped 30 points in Houston's previous five games, was lifted onto a stretcher and taken to Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center. An MRI early Monday revealed no structural damage, the Rockets said. The Rockets play at Charlotte on Tuesday and return home to face Sacramento on Wednesday. McGrady missed eight games earlier in the season because of back spasms and the Rockets lost them all.</div> Source
Horrible news for Houston. Hopefully 'No Show Stro' can use his considerable talent and give Houston a star to rely on whilst Tracy is out.
Hope for the best and TMac is only out two games. It sure looked scary when he had to be carried off. However, I think that by the way the injury looked, it looks like TMac will be out more than a week.
Espn just reported that Mcgrady is out for 2 weeks and that there is no structural damage to his back. They will do muscle stretches and go through rehab on his lower back muscles. They supposedly will keep him out until they know what the problem is and can correct it.
man....he looks dead in the 2nd picture. this is really really bad. Good news is we play against Charlotte next, we can beat them with out t-mac.
So with the latest news TMac and Yao should return roughly around the same time. The Rockets schedule over the next 5 games isn't particularly brutal, and they could go 3-2 during that stretch. @ CHA (winnable) SAC NO (no Chris Paul, winnable) @ ATL (winnable) DAL The following week is brutal though, I could see the Rockets losing 7 out 8. @ CHI @ DET @ MIL CHA (winnable) MIN MIA @MEM The next two weeks are going to be a tough stretch of basketball for this team. I think they need Luther Head to start and give them 20+ a game.
Here is the starting lineup I see: Deke Howard Bowen Wesley Alston Stro will not start but will get majority of the minutes because he tends to get more fouls when he starts, but look to see Luther Head step up. Alston and Howard will lead the team and if Stro steps up like he did in denver in 3rd and 4rth quarter and averages 15-16 points a game we will be fine and playoffs is a very good posibbility.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dingking:</div><div class="quote_post">It's a good news though. Just two games. Way earlier than I thought</div> Actually it's two weeks. I updated the thread title to reflect the latest development. I was talking with KB8 earlier (JBB Member) and he mentioned TMac's doctor told him if he had another severe back spasm it could mean the end of his career. Originally the Rockets only expected him to miss 2 games, now it's 2 weeks. At least there's no structural damage, but maybe McGrady should consider having surgery now (if that's an option) and end the season. The Rockets aren't winning a title this season, so maybe TMac should opt for surgery, fully recover and play pain free for the rest of his prime years?
The Rockets should go for broke and shut down T-Mac for the season and get a high draft pick. A combo of T-Mac, Morrison, and Yao would be great.
watch when t-mac comes back hes gonna drop 50 and get a win for the rockets, and for the next few games after he comes back the rockets will have a big winning streak, cuz he's a warrior like that
I hope he doesn't shut it down for the season. I still think that we can get back to the play-offs even though its a very slim chance now. The smart thing to do would be to sit out for the rest of the season but I just don't want to give up on this season yet.

Draft Morrison to take some of that offensive liability off Tmac because we all know that Morrison can score the ball from literally anywhere on the floor and this guy has the best NBA comparison than anyone else in this years draft. His shooting style has been compared to Larry Bird and his offensive awareness is so high that he could be a PG if he had the dribbling skills needed, but this guy is no stranger to dishing out dimes. The only other players I see the Rockets drafting before Morrison would have to be JJ Reddick(thats a maybe), Rudy Gay, Ronnie Brewer. Second round I hope to get Hassan Adams because this guy is the new Ron artest, but with a great attitude. He is eager to learn, slashes the ball, great defender, and no stranger to scoring. CD please try to get Morrison or Adams!
Thats too bad, T-mac has been hit with the injury bug quite a bit this season, and the whole rocket team for that matter. It looked like he was in a lot of pain looking at the hilites and those pics. Hope he has a speedy recovery.
OMG! I am so pissed. I wanted the Rockets to make it to the second round, and now that is impossible. I am 100% sure we wont make it to the playoffs now. Ofcourse their is a chance, but the Rockets just can't make it with all of these injuries, and the stats they have now. By the time T-Mac/Yao are back we will be in a huge hole. I don't want to tank the season because the off season was bad enough this year. I can't imagine waiting another year for a good Rockets game, that means something. I admit though, it is best to tank the season. Imagine what our HEALTHY line up would look like. Without a Moochie, Baker, Weatherspoon, Ward, Wesley (well I don't mind keeping him around, but not as a starter). We will have gotten rid of all of our scrubs, and even have a great rookie. Plus a healthy T-Mac, Sura, and Yao. It sounds great, but supposidly we could have all that done by the all star break (except the rookie). I just think our record would look something like 15-26. Which is acctually good enough to make the 7-8th seed for the Rockets...hmmmmm
Thats too bad for Tmac, I really hope that he fully recovers from the injury. As well I hope he doesn't rush back from it, because it seems that back injury is recurring as he continues to play. Does anyone know what a back spasm actually is? is it just like straining or pulling a back muscle? or how it feels? or after a day or two, how does everything feel? I don't think I've talked to anyone who has had back spasms, although I know multiple people who have a had lower back injuries.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I hope he doesn't shut it down for the season.</div> Whoa now. Lets not get too carried away. ITS JUST BACK SPASMS. Yes its painful and is dibilitating but its not as if he tore or broke anything. IT IS JUST MUSCLE SPASMS. It sucks and it seems to be a recurring problem for Mcgrady, but it doesnt require surgery or anything even close to it. Some rest, stretching and a chiropractor does the trick.

He needs at least 6 months before the physical therapy starts working and if he does anything physical it just puts him back at square one. Unless TMac wants to role the dice and play in pain the rest of his career, I think he does need to shut it down for the rest of this season and the summer to fully heal. I think the Rockets playoff hopes could be out the door during these next two weeks. The Western Conference is too, competitive this year for the Rockets to surge back and secure a playoff seed. They weren't exactly dominating even with Yao & TMac both healthy.
