In a roundabout way, the Warriors' practice Sunday was distinguished more by who didn't participate than who did. Adonal Foyle went through a full workout for the first time in a week, and Mickael Pietrus had his first informal scrimmage in more than a month.

But there was no Troy Murphy, who sprained his left ankle against Indiana on Thursday night and remains day-to-day. No Calbert Cheaney, who strained his left hamstring the same night and will miss a minimum of 10 days.

And there was no Ron Artest, who is still an Indiana Pacer today despite trade speculation linking him to Golden State. Those rumors kicked into high gear with Indiana in town for last week's nationally televised game, and admittedly hung over the Warriors during their 99-89 loss.

"I wouldn't disagree with that," coach Mike Montgomery said. "I wouldn't say that it wasn't on people's minds. I'm sure that was lodged in there somewhere.

"Should it have been that big a distraction? No. ... But those rumors are not coming from us. They're coming from everywhere else, so you have to look at that stuff with a grain of salt."

Montgomery looked at the Warriors' disappointing effort against the Pacers -- as usual, they fell behind early and rallied late -- and decided to give his players Friday and Saturday off.

When they returned to work, the Warriors had barely enough players to go through their 5-on-5 sets. Aaron Miles had been cut before the Pacers game and Pietrus, Cheaney and Murphy still were unavailable.

That left the Warriors with 10 healthy bodies, a surplus of bigs -- and, a shortage of perimeter players. Andris Biedrins, normally the third-string center, was forced to play the small forward spot simply so Golden State could simulate its sets.

Montgomery had hoped that Pietrus, who has been out since Nov. 22 with a sprained knee ligament, would be able to practice. Though Pietrus has yet to be cleared for full contact drills, his return appears imminent. </div>

W's are a bit dinged up,the extra off days can get them physically fresh,if maybe less mentally focused. I also hope Pietrus is NOT dealt, though Indy may not like who I would offer.
