Indiana and Orlando should settle this lol. lets see.... Orlando recieves: A. Croshere J. Tinsley R. Artest Indiana receives: S. Francis D. Howard Orlando might have to throw in J. Nelson. It'd be a cold day in hell if this ever happened.
Orlando give up Howard? I have a feeling that the franchise is going to be built around this guy in a couple years. Any trade involving him where the Magic are giving him away is out of the question. Let's see what happens. Oh yeah, where's the link at?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Best Kept Secret:</div><div class="quote_post">Last I recalled he loved Houston he even tried to say he would not report to Orlando to begin with, because of the love he had for the city of Houston. As far as where he might end up I will name the usual cities that are involved in almost every rumor Los Angeles and New York. Outside of that I could see a lot of teams taking a look at Francis I mean is Francis any worse than Artest? If Artest generated as much interest as he did when he was put on the market, 16 teams at least according to Indiana called, I could see a team who is one piece away from becoming an above average team, or contender taking a risk on him. Francis is still one of my favorite players in the league, but he never really looked at home in Orlando from the moment the Mobley trade went down.</div> Ron Artest is a former DPOY and makes half the amount Francis makes, plus his deal is shorter. He's making franchise money, but he's not a franchise player.
Why did they trade for him in the first place? Should I tried to talk T'Mac into staying T'Mac/Howard > T'Mac/Yao

Dwight Howard is staying a Magic until at least his contract goes up. We're gonna try to keep him the entire time. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting j0se:</div><div class="quote_post">Why did they trade for him in the first place? Should I tried to talk T'Mac into staying T'Mac/Howard > T'Mac/Yao</div> Because Tmac had the option to extend his contract. He said no, not yet. We could have waited it out if we wanted, but the risk of trading Tmac for cheap or getting nothing in return would have been waaaaaaaaaay higher. The Tmac trade was smart for us at the time. That would have been the best possible offer we would have been able to get for him. We didn't trade him just because we felt like it. He more than likely would have left just like Shaq did and Weisbrod was feeling pressure to get something in return rather than losing Tmac for nothing or 2 2nd rounders(like the Magic got him for)
I could plausibly see him ending up in Minnesota, I mean with his huge contract it's possible that something could be worked out with Olowakandi and a bunch of other junk. By the way, thanks, Stevie. I've always been a supporter of you, and now not only do you make an ass out of yourself, but you're killing my fantasy team
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting j0se:</div><div class="quote_post">Why did they trade for him in the first place? Should I tried to talk T'Mac into staying T'Mac/Howard > T'Mac/Yao</div> I'm sure they did try. I'm no fan of McGrady, but he's about 10 classes better than Francis in every area and actually has a better attitude, which is saying something.

I think if Steve "somehow" ended up with the lakers, he would have to know his roll. That would be Pass first shoot 2nd. I think it could workout good hes a good solid player that could help the Lakers.
Alright, let me start by saying some of you guys have some crazy imaginations and I have no idea how you come up with these lopsided trades. Steve Francis, Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson for Ron Artest, Jamal Tinsley and Austin Croschere? Why would the Magic do this? Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson are the future of this franchise and there is no way they would give those two up for some nutcase and two role players. This trade is never going to go down or even be proposed so you can clear it from your head right now. Secondly, why are some of you guys counting the Lakers out of this? They were interested in Francis over the offseason and I'm sure they would listen to offers involving him again. Lamar Odom has just downright sucked this season and some kind of Odom for Francis trade is a very realistic posibility. The Lakers have one of the best scorers in the game and one of the best coaches in NBA history. Now all they need is some good players to surround these two legends. Francis is someone who can do that because he can make shots for himself and would take some pressure off of Kobe. This rumor isn't dead and it could very well happen. Next, the guy who said they should have talked Tracy McGrady out of leaving, you must not have followed the situation very closely. McGrady was sick of losing and sick of doing all the work. He talked about not having a decent supporting cast and had his mind set on leaving. On top of that, McGrady's contract would have allowed him to leave Orlando the next season and he planned on signing with a new team. So the Magic front office decided they would get what they could for him rather then just letting him leave and having nothing to show for him. Tmac was also having problems with the team's GM and there was no way he was going to stay with the team. When they traded for Francis, Mobley and Cato, it was the best deal at the time. Everyone knew McGrady wanted out of Orlando so it would have been impossible for Orlando to match his talent. This brings us to the Francis situation. We let McGrady go for cheaper then he should have and now it looks as if Francis will do the same thing. I think it's time we take this franchise in a new direction. Trade Francis for some expiring contracts and picks. We let Howard and Nelson emerge as our stars similar to when we had Penny and Shaq last time Brian Hill was coaching the Magic. We give them majority of the shots and try to develop their game. Then we use our picks and cap room to bring in some young talent. This would put our franchise in good shape for the next few years and would put us in a better situation then we are in now depending on how the players develop.
Lamar's stats this season. PPG-15 RPG-9 ASST-5 I highly doubt the lakers would want to do a trade where they lose Lamar Odom. He is 6'10 and can handle the ball like a point gaurd, he is long and a good rebounder. I think its more like unrealistic but thats just my opinion...( that is if your talking about putting Odom in this trade deal) Plus Kobe & Lamar are good friends, I doubt Kobe would be very excited about a trade like this.

Kobe and Odom may be teamates but friends? I'm not too sure. Rumors were flowing about a possible locker room fight between Odom and Bryant so their "friendship" may be over.

Yea I agree Lamar Odom has not really met the expectations of the team. But he showed great signs in last nights game against the Cavs. If I was a laker fan I know I would want to keep a 6'10 guy who could pretty much play any position in the court. I donno though I could be wrong.
STEVE FRANCIS IS NOT A HEAD CASE.... ppl act like he is disloyal like artest NOT TRUE.. first of all he didn't want to be traded to orlando... then WEIS WATEVER traded cutiino and stevie was pretty mad at that idea... if u recall orlando was number one seed last season befroe that trade... stevie is already upset..

It's not a coincidence that he's burnt three seperate organisations.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Why did they trade for him in the first place? They're obviously not going to get same value for Francis because of his contract and how he's been playing recently. Plus, he's not that great of a trade piece anyway given his style of playing. With a contract worthy of a franchise player's, he's certainly hard to build a team around and with his contract, it would be hard to put him on a team with another star player.
It's all John Gabriel's fault. The Magic had been winning games, Francis was having a career season, and it all fell apart when Gabriel traded Francis's best friend Cuttino Mobley. For an emotional guy like Stevie, you should know that trading his best friend who was actually playing great and had no reason to be traded, you'd tick him off. Ever since, Francis's career has been on a downslide. Sadly, I think the Franchise is not too concerned with winning a championship. He just wants a city whose fans adore him and a system where he gets free rein, similar to Rudy T's Rockets. It was under that system where Stevie had his best years and gained his nickname. However, Francis didn't respond negatively when Van Gundy took over, and did not seem to mind giving up more shots to Yao Ming. Also, his play in the playoff series against the Lakers in his last season in Houston was great to say the least and he proved his "Franchise" status. Francis, when playing under the right system, can be a top-20 player in the NBA, and on the same level as Baron Davis. Teams like Atlanta and Denver will benefit from having Francis as they won't have to give up a lot to get him and they almost will get back a 21/6/6 guy, who will be out to prove the haters wrong, at least this season. You'd also get a top-rate entertainer and boosted jersey sales.

That's a pretty pathetic excuse given he's supposed to be a professional.
