<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Knicks' legend and current radio analyst Earl 'The Pearl' Monroe gives his take on the young trio that has revitalized the club ... King David Lee Judging from the camps this summer and all of the things David Lee brought to the team in the preseason, I thought he was a very solid player. He understood the game and he has a knack for being around the ball. That's one of the reasons I was surprised he wasn't getting more playing time earlier in the season. He seems to have a good IQ for the game of basketball. There are a lot of guys from the past that Lee reminds me of because he's so fundamentally sound. When I first saw him, I thought of a guy named Clyde Lee, who used to play with Golden State way back. Everybody has their own styles, but David's a pretty solid player and he seems to learn more as he continues to play. Now that David's in the starting lineup, he adds stability. You know what you are going to get from him every night. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes and he's always going to be around the ball. Deep Frye Channing Frye is probably the best offensive guy on the team. He can shoot the ball very well and he's another guy that really impressed me during the summer, even in college I thought he was a pretty good player. When he got here, a lot of people talked about him being soft, but I never saw that. He's a guy that's willing to bang and learn the game. The minutes that he's been playing should help him get his confidence up, and he's been performing very well throughout the season. His rebounding skills have come into question, but that will improve with more games. He needs to learn about positioning himself and where to go for the ball. He'll get his share of rebounds, but at the same time he's still learning the game and as he learns, he'll know where to go. Even though he's not starting, he's got the attitude that he can contribute off the bench. So if he can still give good contribution coming in later in the game, why not? Nasty Nate Nate Robinson is all about energy. He's what I like to call a 'big little man' that can jump right out of the place. He makes a lot of mistakes, but the more he plays the more he'll understand what he has to do to stay in the lineup. Nate's tenaciousness reminds me of Calvin Murphy. That's a guy that really didn't back off from any shots from anyone and played some hard-nosed basketball. He's playing his game right now. Whether or not he can help the team more as a point guard or shooting guard, I don't know. But he just has to perfect the game he has. He makes a lot of good passes and it's not really a matter of what he has to do, but rather getting more playing time and doing what he knows in his head he's capable of. A lot of times as a young player, you try to do too much. The game of basketball is not just about being fast, it's about being quick and really methodical in knowing exactly what you're going to do. Making a Run? The Knicks certainly have a chance to make the playoffs, I always thought that. The Eastern Conference has not improved that much, so there are a lot of teams that the Knicks are better than. Even before they started winning more recently, I thought that they were still better than a lot of teams. In terms of improvement, they still need to be more consistent. They've got a nice presence up front with Eddy Curry so that will help out a lot. If the team can come together like it has, then they really should make the playoffs, or at least come close to it.</div> MSG Network
