The Suns were at the bottom of the rankings three years ago...Do you think that they would still be there without the addition of Steve Nash?
If they had signed Q-Rich and not signed Nash. I think they would probably have been either a 7th or 8th seed in playoffs or 9th-10th. They really needed a pointguard, otherwise they would have struggled with Barbosa as starting pg or Joe Johnson spending all his time at pg.

It depends on who else we had spent our money on I guess. I'm just glad we got Nash, he's an amazing talent who's a lot of fun to watch and seems like an honestly good person as well. No off-court antics, not a lot of on-court crybaby crap either like some players. Just an all around great player.
I don't even think the Suns would have made the playoffs without the addition of Nash... what do u think?
Nash is a little underrated because, he has supporting cast arround him. He get's a lot of his assists from guys he can finish.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dtpxcore:</div><div class="quote_post">Nash is a little underrated because, he has supporting cast arround him. Luke "Baby Nash" Ridnour, Parker, Terry... all have a minimum of three finishers in their rotation. None are as successful at creating opportunities for them. You could argue that Nash is so successful because they run the offense through him. But they do that because he simply is that good. But don't take my word for it. Just ask Marion and Amare, both who played on the team prior to Nash's arrival. Or look at the plus minus with and without Steve on the court. Or most telling of them all, wins and losses. The Suns don't get all their points off Nash dishes... it just seems that way. j ps - His stats aren't what impress me about the man. It's the little things, like how he disrupts and breaks down defenses and his off-the-ball leadership, recognizing defensive trends and weaknesses and creating plays for his teammates without even touching the ball. Not that you don't, but watch a game closely... you'll see.
I can't believe you think Nash is overrated. He's got to be the best point guard in the game. If you think he is overrated because of the people around him, then you must think that every pg in the league is overrated, each team has players with the capability of finishing. You have to be crazy if you think Nash is overrated.
Theyd remain on top of the Pacific. Theyrd replace him with some mediocre/scrub player but somehow still play well...alot like what happened over this last offseason
Sometimes I wonder if Nash actually made Amare better, or if he just worked hard in the offseason. If you had continued to use Leandro Barbosa as starting pg Amare probably wouldn't have gotten his touches. If you didn't have Nash this year you would be horrible, because Amare is injured. I believe that the Suns would have finished 4-6th last year without Nash, but Joe Johnson is capable of running the point. PG: JJ SG: Q-Rich SF: Marion PF: Amare C: Hunter That's a solid squad, but they would have been more defensive minded that the suns were last year. That extra defense would have made up for the loss of a high octane offense.
without nash, no playofffs, with nash western conference finals.... and this year nash is proving why he was the mvp last season, he is definitely a team player and never selfish, he would rather throw the lob to marion any time theres a chance than having an open jump shot
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting GiantMidget:</div><div class="quote_post">Theyd remain on top of the Pacific. They would have no chance to stay on top of the pacific b/c Amare wouldn't be such an impact player and they wouldn't be scoring such a high amount of points per game. Nash means everything to the Suns...
Funny thing is now Nash isn't hearing ANY MVP talk, even though his scoring is up, assists are the same, and the team is still one of the best in the league record-wise. They and Nash aren't the surprise they were last year but Nash IMO is still very deserving if he does win one again. At least All-NBA First Team, and anything worse than that is a major mistake on the NBA's part.
After thinking about it and realizing there really wasn't anyone close to Nash's caliber of play available to get if we hadn't got him... we'd be up a certain fecal creek minus our fluid displacement motivator.
I hate how everyone thinks Nash is the only reason we are playing well. That is not true at all. We have a lot of good players on the team this year. Nash is important but I think D'Antoni's offensive system is more important. With Dallas Nash was averaging 3 or 4 less assists, that is a big difference. D'Antoni's first full season was when Nash came. And to say that Nash made Amare good is dumb. Amare was doing very, very well without Nash and when Nash came it was just Amare's 3rd season and that's when young players usually do start playing well, like Barbosa did this year. Without Nash last year we would have been horrible, but this year we have some depth so we would probably be a 6th or 7th seed in the playoffs. Eddie House, Boris Diaw and Leandro Barbosa RIGHT NOW are capable of running the offense as good as most poing guards. The team is not just good because Nash is here. They are good because Bryan Colangelo brought the best possible combination of coaches, all-stars, and other players together.
Nash is definitely the best player in the suns and even in the league. Suns without nash is like Houston without t-mac.

But to ignore players like Marion and Amare (unless you left him out since he's injured) is just plain crazy. Marion has something like 29 or 30 double-doubles on the season. He's capable of 16+ rebounds a night. Not to mention he's no slouch on steals and even the occasional blocked shot. I can't believe how underrated he is in the league. Maybe he's not a big enough loud mouth trash talker, maybe it's unconventional looking jump shot? Who knows. The thing about the suns this year though, is that they're a good team. I really believe they are greater than the sum of their parts. And I think Coach D'antoni has a lot to do with this.

He can do 20+/15+ per night without difficulty. But nash give him full support and help him achieve this.
