Shaun Livingston is one of their key players in the future, Pierce is in his prime now, the latter part of his prime, that is. I would've turned it down, as well.
Not so sure about this one. I do agree Livingston has a good future ahead of him, but trading for a perennial all-star who is now averaging 26/7/5 is kind of tempting. If the Clippers had Pierce, Cassell, Mobley, and Brand, as strange as it might seem, I think they’ll be contenders out west. The outside inside combination of Pierce and Brand will be hard to stop, not to mention great role players like Cassell and Brand who could go off for a combined 40 on any given night as well. Also, they’ll be a buzz in L.A. which would mean increased money for the NBA. I know Livingston has potential, but can he be as good as Paul Pierce?
BUULLLLCRAP. The Clippers would of never turned that offer down unless they were in fact STUPID!!!! Forget the future. You got 2 old guys at your back up who arent their to rebuild a team. I dont believe this story for nothing.
^^lol I agree. You can easily get another guard with potential in an upcoming draft. I find it confusing that they would have a chance to get PP while keeping Magz, and they turned it down.
It would be nice to know who else the Clippers would have to give up since Pierce makes 5 times as much as Livingston. The only other players who make over $5M are Brand, Mobley, Cassell, and CMaggs. So one of them would likely have to be included in the trade. Or the other alternative would be to completely gut their bench.
The Clippers don't need another scorer, what they need is defense and Artest is the man. Who knows where Artest is going to land, better happen soon, I'm still waiting for a trade to go down.
Theres no reason for the Clippers to trade Shaun Livingston, if he stays healthy he could be a poor-mans Magic Johnson if not he could end up being a real big scrub, but I dont think he'll do that. Livingston is one of my favorite players and I do believe he'll be a good player, I would've turned down that too just looking at Livingstons upside.

No way the should trade Livingston. Shaun has tremendous passing skills, I see him develop into a strong role player in a couple of years.
The difference is Pierce is more than a strong role player -- he's a superstar. I know Livingston will be a great player in the league, but I don't think of him being +25.00 in the efficiency department like Pierce. Pierce, Brand, and Cassell will make the Clippers an instant playoff team.
