<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- According to two league sources, a deal that would send Mark Blount to Minnesota or Memphis could be completed soon. One source described a deal as ''imminent." The most likely scenario would have the Celtics shipping Blount to Minnesota for 7-foot, 270-pound center Michael Olowokandi. The Celtics play the Timberwolves tomorrow night at the TD Banknorth Garden. It is less clear whom the Celtics would receive from the Grizzlies for Blount, if they went that route. Lorenzen Wright, a 6-11 center, might be one possibility because he is in the last year of his contract. Although the salary numbers work, one source said 6-8 Memphis forward Brian Cardinal is not a candidate. The Celtics reportedly tried to deal Blount to Memphis last offseason. Memphis was one of the teams that aggressively pursued Blount when he was a free agent. After an extremely disappointing 2004-05 season, Blount and his agent Mark Bartelstein talked with coach Doc Rivers and executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge last summer. Blount arrived at training camp determined to reclaim the form he showed when playing for his current six-year, $40 million contract -- a contract with a 15 percent trade kicker.</div> Source
This would be a great deal for the C's... not only does it get rid of blounts horrid contract but it also frees up more minutes for Perk and Big Al...Kandi could be waived as his contact end this season... Minny get a scoring center to help KG and Wally offensivly and i think blount playing with a top rebounder like KG behind him will not make him sutch a liability as he is for the C's... This trade can't happen soon enough for me

What concerns me is that Doc will probably want to give Kandiman extensive minutes over Al and Perk, and he's even worse than Blount. At least Blount puts up some scoring, this chump does NOTHING. This deal signals to me the Celtics giving up on yet another season before the second half even gets going.
Blount for some Old Kandi The Blount for Olowakandi (sic?) trade makes more sense after a little thought. Minnesota is desperate for scoring, and they need someone to protect Garnett in the middle. While Blount is softer than a box of Malomars, he can score more efficiently than two thirds of the centers in the league. Garnett's good enough to do the extra rebounding. In times of need you can bring Eddie Griffin out for some weak side defense (which Blount will do sometimes anyway). I do share some of the same worries that Squishface does, but I think that Ainge will let Doc know that Kandi is just cap space with two legs. If the trade isn't for Kandi, if he ends up somewhere else, then we should worry. Wright originally didn't want to leave Memphis, but they wouldn't re-up him. There is a chance that he could be a malcontent for the Celts. He's significantly more talented than Kandi and Doc may play him, denying time to the boys. Honestly, I feel like everybody else in that I can't wait for this trade to happen. At least it'll be more interesting, and cap space is always good.
Also great to see that in the 2 games they benched Blount not only did we win back to back games for only the second time this season...but even greater to see both Big Al and the Perkulator get major minutes and major contributions...things are looking up for sure
love seeing blount sit and al and perk get some slack and put up some numbers too as well as some decent defense. I also thinkk this would be a good trade for the celtics as long as kandi doesnt get too many of perk or als minutes
i really dont get it--why are the timberwolves even considering this deal? they are aldready packed with huge contracts which they have to get rid of

Maybe if the Celts include a pick.
Good deal for the Celtics. I highly doubt the deal is just KandiMan for Mark Blount straight up though. THe Celtics got a lot of young bigs who could use the extra minutes.
