George Washington is #8 and Memphis is #11? Did you see G Dub lose by 21 to NC State, go to OT against Marshall, and go OT again versus St. Louis? And their only quality win is against a Maryland team that didn't even get a vote in your poll. Memphis beat UCLA, Gonzaga and Cincy! They lost in a squeaker to Duke and their other loss was Texas.

Yes, they went into overtime, but they still won. If you're going to bring up games like the George Washington/Saint Louis game, then bring up another game from that day, Memphis/East Carolina (6-9). Memphis may have won that one by ten, but that was after the last minute fouls padded the score. The true story of the game is that it was a one possession game almost the whole way through. East Carolina had the lead for most of the first half, had the lead on a few occassions in the second half, and then they were just one shot away from tying the game with about two minutes left, as the score was 64-61. So don't think that George Washington is the only team who has nearly fallen to mediocre teams. Pretty much every top twenty five team is guilty of that. Besides, the Colonials rebounded from those overtime games to blow St. Joseph's out. The fact of the matter is that they're 13-1 (3-0 in the A-10), and while a team's record isn't the sole reason we rank them high, it play a large factor (see: Florida). It's not like they're not talented though. They've got four or five guys on this roster going pro, and that's probably more than Memphis. They've got a better coach than Memphis too. I just don't see why they should be ranked lower. They're actually a similar team to Memphis in many respects, but Memphis has been living and dying by the three lately, and if it's not falling, they're probably not going to win. Also, why do you consider Cincinnati a quality win for Memphis and then go on to discredit the Maryland win for George Washington?
Because Maryland was GW's only big win. I'm not saying Cincy is a better team than UMD, just that the one real win GW has is kind of iffy. Also, I don't count OT wins as incredibly bad things, just not something I'd expect from the #8 team against two teams as mediocre/bad as St. Louis and Marshall. I just think those factors combine to make GW... not a top ten team. Incidentally, I think the best team in my area is George Mason. But that's not supported by their resume.
