I think this is an interesting comparision. If Kobe continues to fail at getting HIS team to the playoffs, will he be remembered as another Wilkins (selfish, poor leadership, etc)

Kobe has a lot of ability-TRUE. But without the MVPs and without rings (in which he was the team leader), how can he be remembered as anything but a dominique?

This is a stupid thread, he was already part of 3 championships. The Lakers are on the uprise and Kobe is still young he will get the Lakers to the playoffs...

Me stupid? no your stupid for making a stupid thread like this. Shaq needed Kobe as much as Kobe needed Shaq. They both havent won a championship without the other. You can say whatever but the facts are as shown neither has won a championship without the other...So plz if you cant think of a good thread to come up with just dont make one...make yourself look more stupid...

This thread is kinda pointless, but shaq and kobe weren't equals during the championship run. that's like sayin Jordan and pippen were equals. It was closer to 60/40 then 50/50 for shaq and kobe.

I dont deny the fact that ShaQ dominated in their championship runs, after all he was the MVP. But the fact is neither of them have won a championship without the other. My point was Shaq needed Kobe as much as Kobe needed Shaq. If that wasnt the case Shaq might of had a Championship at Miami already but he dosent.

That really doesn't follow. By that logic, Shaq needed Horry more than Horry needed Shaq, because Horry got 3 rings without Shaq.

Shaq was a bigger part of their offense and defense during their championship runs.

    Shaq's stats in playoffs
    2000: 30.7 pts, 15.4 rebs, 3.1 asts
    2001: 30.4 pts, 15.4 rebs, 3.2 asts
    2002: 28.5 pts, 12.6 rebs, 2.8 asts

    Kobe's stats in playoffs
    2000: 21.1 pts, 4.5 rebs, 4.4 asts
    2001: 29.4 pts, 7.4 rebs, 6.1 asts
    2002: 26.6 pts, 5.8 rebs, 4.6 asts

Kobe is better than Dominique. Anyone who remembers him as not being a greater player (even if he doesn't win another championship) probably has Alzheimers.

Dominique was great, it's not like he was a nothing player, so show him some respect.

Kobe probably won't win an MVP, because he's not on a good enough team. By the time that he is he may be past his prime. I agree that Shaq was ALWAYS a more important part of the Lakers, especially in the playoffs. You can't discredit
    what Kobe brought.

Really, when has Shaq ever made a team good by himself? Kobe is making the Lakers good this year, basically by himself (player-wise).

Shaq needed Kobe just as much!?! thats a laugh. I do remember orlando being contenders with shaq. Also, i do remember the Lakers and Heat becoming instant contenders when shaq as traded to them. Are the Kobe lakers instant contenders? NO.
Sure I think Kobe is a great player- but I dont know if he will be a top 15 player when he retires. Those spots are reserved for guys with MVPs and guys that carried their teams into the playoffs. Also, if he cannot make or get out of the first round, Im not even sure he may be in the top 30 of all time. I think Tim Duncun is way ahead of him right now.

LoL that just shows your lack of knowledge when it come to the NBA. The year before Shaq arrived at Miami they went to the 2nd round without him. And you call them contenders?!? Sorry but they arnt contenders..
