Does anyone have a problem with Allen Iverson walking off the court after missing a free throw last night against the Nets, and not staying on the court until the Nets ran out the als 22.7 seconds on the clock? I know I do, and think AI has to be called out on it. Allen Iverson is supposed to be the leader of the team. What kind of example does that set? I get he is frustrated, but walking off the court won’t fix this teams problem, and him acting like he did last night is not helping anyone. Randy Moss caught a lot of criticism for leaving the Vikings game his last season with the team before the game was over, AI basically did the same last night. Poor show of leadership, actually lack there of.
wow! at first i thought AI was traded! lol! as for the topic? i agree with you BKS. AI is the leader of the team and he hasnt showed it at all this season. we have a bunch of young players on this roster and what message do you think it sends to them? also, this wasnt the first time it happened. remember last season against the grizzlies? AI did the same thing. i think mo cheeks needs to sit him down and talk to him about the responsibilities of being a team leader.
He knew it was over man, he sat there, at the end of the Washington game, you look up at that score board, you think "They're not running out the clock to keep us from fouling, it's over". To have to go through that not only once but twice, it'd take alot of Character/ Heart, and I don't think Allen Iverson has THAT MUCH character in him. He's a tough guy to bring down, but when this is what you do for a living? And, when the work's not going your way night in and night out? There are times you want to leave early. Allen Iverson did the right thing IMO, he basically showed the team, that he's not going for this crap of mediocrity.
Teams go through tough stretches all the time, but you don't see their star player walking off the court without shaking hands or anything. It's disrespectful to his team, the opposing team and the fans.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BigMo763:</div><div class="quote_post">Was he right in doing it? No. Do I understand why he did it? Yes...</div> That was basically AI views on this after the game. He was man enough to apologize and everything but it doesn't hide the fact that it was a very childish move. If he was going to leave he should have hold his knee and at least make it seem like he is leaving early for a reason so it wouldn't look as bad. But just walking back to the lockeroom and turning your back on YOUR team was wrong. I see where AI is coming from and this is just the burden of carrying a franchise. He's been doing so ever since he step foot on the league and to see himself playing at an all-time high and having a sub .-500 record is very depressing. Thinking about that alone, I don't blame him but it was still wrong. However I'm confident that he will look to make up for what he did.
By doing what? It seems obvious to me, and to Allem Iverson, that any trick he pulls out of his hat, will not get thist eam over the hump
I agree Super_Sixer_Fan, and I agree that it is very frustrating to see Allen ballin' out of control, and not getting any closer to that ring. There is only so much he can do. This team has absolutely no identity. At first I kept saying offense is not the problem, and only defense is... but as of late, our offense hasn't looked as crisp either. Something needs to happen just to get the morale of this team as high as it was in training camp, and when we won six in a row early in the year. Hopefully we can do something positive against Memphis. Remember, winning fixes everything.
Not just winning, winning one good. When you win one of them close ones, your like: "Oh my god, imagine, if we made those mistakes all over again". You can say, that it'd teach them, that if they do, what they did, they can at least the F score, would go on their side. But Remember, Adults are like children, right now the 76ers, don't know themselves, don't know their style of play. And the best confidence booster, would be, seeing the score-board, and be like "Damn, we rock"

He's stepped up his game off the court as well and gotten positive attention for his maturity.
What he did was wrong, but I can understand his frustration. What I don't like is the basting he's taking in the media. Everyone (ATH, PTI, ESPN) was quick to say that the old AI is back while easily forgetting how he's matured the past several yrs into a loving father, husband, and leader.
