The "I'm sorry for hating on Kobe" thread Tell you the truth, I hated Kobe the minute I saw him, on tv that is. I hated everything about him .. there was something too cocky about him. Something that made me think he thought of himself too much, something that made him think that he was "NEXT". I even hated the Lakers, and I just hated them winning ... I loved to watch the little man AI **** on the Lakers in the first game of the 2001 finals, and to top it off I loved how Iverson stepped over Lue after hitting a basket on him. I live in LA, and for the past 9 years I have been a Sixers fan and it all started with Allen Iverson ... and you could imagine how much hate I got from everyone here. But something changed over the past 2 years about Kobe, he grew, he matured, got wiser, and got for real. Before I thought he was a fluke, an over-hyped wannabe Jordan, I even beat up a kid for wearing the #8 Jersey once. (yes it's true .. and im sorry for it) Something happened to change my opinion about this guy ... something that not even Allen Iverson come claim and that is he overcame every bullshit thing that was ever written about him by working and working and working on his game... all AI ever did was show up use his talent to put up huge numbers, but he was capable of doing more but he didn't because he didn't have the work ethic that Kobe did ..... and after watching the Kings game I've come to the conclusion that... Kobe is BETTER then Jordan. I'm sorry to say it, I know it hurts to say it ... but yes Kobe is BETTER THEN JORDAN. His shots are just amazing, he can do it all, he'll post on you turn around and pop one splat on your face, and he does it to near perfection. This guy grew up idolizing Jordan, Mimicking Jordan in everyway possible, and most of us hated him for doing so.... but now he's proving that he's better then Jordan, and he will still be getting better for the next decade. Now for the haters who will say .. "BUTT JORRDANN HAZ 6 CHAMPIONCHIPS" .. i don't care... Jordan might have 6 championships ... but SKILL wise .. I'd take Kobe over Jordan ANYDAY ... spoken by a true Kobe Hater that has turned into a Kobe Supporter... I hope he breaks every single record in the record book ... and proves to all of you that he IS the best there ever was... even if he has to step over AI one day.
Youve never seen Michael play man. He could have any shot he wanted, Kobe has to work hard for his. Michael just knew what he was doing. He didnt settle for the little 15 footer, he DUNKED IT HARD IN UR FACE! The fact that MJ has 6 rings is another point. He had the attitude to PASS the ball sometimes (Kings Match Reference in not passing the ball in OT) It wasnt all about Michael, he let others shine, in Pippen, Rodman or any other player. He just did what he had to do. Kobe seems to be all about scoring. I see nights when he has to put up 62, but yes HE HAS TO. how else is this team gona survive. Dont get me wrong, i aint hatin on kobe. His 62 points shows why he his worth the money. I just feel he doesnt make the game winning plays sometimes. Especially in that Kings game the other nite in OT, he shouldve passed the ball instead of taking a fade away 3 with 2 players on him. Jordan passed it to Steve Kerr for the game winner, it isnt a BAD thing to get an Assist! Until he does break those records and gets another 3 chips, i aint gona say he is better then MJ before i die! MJ could do it all, Kobe can do it all, but id have MJ over Kobe in the pick up game anyday. Even if he is 50, im picking him! If kobe wins another championship with the way he plays now, ill officially fly out just for the apology, Run Wit It!
OMG, come on this is too easy i dont even know what to say. man do you even watch basketball? are you 10? Do you know this is gonna attract every kobe flamer just becuase you made an ignorant comment like kobe is better than jordan.
Why rip the poster, he's just posting his opinion on how he views Kobe now and then? This post is for people slowly coming around to supporting Kobe instead of hating on him, if you don't feel the same, then why bother posting in this thread?

Kobes team vs Jordans team. In comparison which role players would you take? Kobe doesn't have the same role players that Jordan had which is why he hasn't been able to fully trust his teamates. I've followed Laker games this whole season so I know Kobe does pass it to odom in crunch time but he just fails to make his 3 point shot. When Kobe passed it to Odom during Kings game he came through and hit that 3 point shot. I think right now Kobe is playing great basketball, but in my opinion he still has alot to learn about working off the ball and making his teamates better. Once he is able to do that you know the outcome. Kobe: MVP
Fact is, Kobe is better then Jordan, skill wise .. and I don't care what you say. Oh and yes I was around when Jordan started winning those championships. The thing is, as soon as someone is mentioned in the same breath as Jordan, they automatically deem it bs or something just because Jordan is the God of basketball. Comeon guys, times change, new people come and go ... it's Kobe's time and before long he's going to retire as the very best .. ever. Don't try to fight over my opinion that Kobe is better than Jordan because it's just going to start a war. What I'm simply saying is that Kobe has evolved into another kind of player, a player that no one can stop today ... period.
One thing to keep in mind are the league rules now. Back when Jordan played, you could hand check guys and use BOTH hands to defend. The offensive players have a lot more space allowed to operate under in the current NBA.
But before they couldnt play zone defense could they?!? Now they can clog up the lanes alot more, if I am not mistaken.

Kobe just doesn't have the mental toughness (among other weaknesses) and he never will. And as for the "nobody can stop him" line, well take a look at your record. Stopping Jordan back in the day meant beating the Bulls. Kobe gets stopped on a nightly basis son.

Agreed. Kobe > MJ God, I just wish we could put Jordan in his prime with the current Laker team, and see how he would do. Far too many times I have seen Kobe dish the ball and the player doesn't make the shot and Kobe misses out on an Assist. Assists involve 2 players, even if a player makes a sick ass pass, the other play has to make the shot. Kobe is a shooting guard, why do people keep making it seem like Kobe is there to get assists? That's Lamar and Smush's job. The reason why Kobe is so amazing is he draws the whole opposing team's defense when he drives in and he can dish out to a wide open player on his team, BUT....when they shoot, they BRICK, the majority of the time, I'd even say 60-75 percent of the time. Skill-wise, I honestly believe Kobe is better than Jordan. He has every aspect of Jordan's game nearly perfected in my opinion. Let's give Kobe a few more years and I guarantee we'll see more people like Run Wit It (props for coming around) saying Kobe is the best ever.

I would have thought that coming to play basketball and scoring buzzer beaters just after you've been in court on rape charges would make you pretty tough mentally. I would have thought that being the most hated player in the NBA with everybody wanting you to fail and still playing excellent basketball without giving up would make you mentally tough. I hate Kobe because I think he's cocky as well.... But I do respect him. He's playing like he's from some other planet or like god wanted to play basketball so he came down himself. I think if the Lakers had a chance at winning title, this year coulda been the biggest chance only if they had some other solid and consistent contributors. Kobe's 30 (everynight) and someone else's 20 and some decent defenders ...imagine how far above the Lakers would be from other teams.

Not a better rebounder career: 5.1 rpg to 6.2 rpg for mike not a better passer 4.4 apg to Jordan's 5.3 apg. No to mention he has nowhere near the defensive presence mike had, who with jerry west is among the only gurads to win DPOY. Kobe's been in the league 10 years now we know what he can do, he's a great player, but when you compare him to mike everything just pales. I've seen mike play and i've seen Kobe play, there is nothing i've seen kobe do that Mj hasn't done on the court before.
