the way Chuck Hayes goes after the ball kind of reminds me of Dennis Rodman.

I found Chuck Hayes' Flaw. It is something that is the product of hustling and trying to prove yourself. This problems name is foul trouble. He got 3 fouls in 2 halves, but was very productive with 8 points and 5 rebounds.

Yeah, but two of those three fouls were BS. He's getting a lot of bad calls from the refs, because they can't believe that he can make so many good plays on defense without fouling.

Going by this half, I think JVG needs to start Hayes. Screw Juwan's "professionalism". We need to win games.

Was Swift benched, or is he injured?

It's kind of sad that all our PFs together still don't add up to one Garnett.</div>

lol it is sad. You forgot Garnett's passion for the game.

Throw Bobby Sura into the mix, and our 4 players = KG. Thats 3 players and a PG.

Damn I want KG on our team. 18 mil sounds more than worth it.

i'm sick of bonehead Swift. Can't catch a quick pass ..he's gettin tons of brain freeze on the court and his 1 minded dunk first ot the hoop mind is gettin too 1 dimensional. Hope he gets traded since Hayes deservs his minutes, if u guys didn't notice Hayes is shorter than Mcgrady and he's playing pf position? Hayes is so good in rebounding even though he's undersized. He's amazing. His tandem with baxter is good but of course they can't stop the upper tier teams

After the Milwauke game, Van Gundy downplayed Swift's tardiness as "unfortunate" and called him a "good player." Additionally, he seemed to be unhappy with Chuck Hayes' defense in the second half of that game:

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting "Houston Chronicle":</div><div class="quote_post">
To the untrained eye, it seemed Hayes was a key reason the Rockets overcame an early 13-point deficit for only their second win in 11 home games since Dec. 6. But Van Gundy pointed out Thursday that Hayes had some defensive problems in the fourth quarter that could slice his playing time, which ultimately could benefit Swift.

"If (Hayes) trots back (on defense) like he did (Wednesday) night, you probably won't see him playing with Yao (Ming) or Tracy (McGrady)," Van Gundy said. "His transition defense in the fourth quarter was unimaginable.

"If he continues that way, don't worry, it'll be a one- or two-shot deal. I've seen a little bit of a downtrend in some areas."
    </div>

Maybe he's concerned that Hayes isn't playing as hard after getting his contract. I do think it's unfair that Swift gets a pass in this regard, and Hayes is being held to such a higher standard. Or maybe, in some way, it's a compliment.

Besides, Hayes is fighting for the offensive board every possession. It's kind of hard to be the first guy back on defense when you're expending so much energy trying to get your team extra possessions.

I think JVG is just trying to make sure Hayes knows what his demands are. Hayes' hustle will be watched close tonight to see how he responds.

Hayes played 15 minutes and had 8 and 8. Foul trouble hurt, and it is true that he will not get benefit of the doubt calls because he's a rook.

Well even if he gets a lot of fouls, i dont believe it is going to be a problem for us at this point and time.

Agreed. It seems that Van Gundy is a bit too dazed by Hayes' first week as a Rocket and his standards for him has been so elevated that any dropoff in effort won't be tolerated. It's funny how Van Gundy knocks on Hayes for not getting back defensively, when Hayes is down low working to get the offensive boards. Swift is even slower getting back and Hayes is a much more effective positional rebounder than Swift.

I see the compliment in that comment too, and it looks like Hayes is held in higher regard than Swift.

Hayes is held in higher regard...but considering the Rockets are financially tied down to Swift at this point, they're willing to give him 2,3 and even 4 chances to grasp the system and play well...

It would be a shame if an undrafted rookie ended up being the reason for Swift's exit out of Houston...
