Could this be a repeat of Mo Taylor's "flu" around the same time last year? Eerie similarities, if you ask me ...

yeah I've have pink eye before and I must say, that although it sucks to have I really don't see how Swift would have to be benched because of it.....and you're right it's been a while now, he should be back [IMG]

It doesn't make sense though. There's a couple key differences. Last year when Taylor once benched because of the flu, we were going on a nice stretch when everything clicked. Now meanwhile, the team is in complete turmoil and benching Swift won't help us since at least we could have another offensive force on the team with him. In addition, with Yao out and us having to rely on Howard and Mutombo, I think it doesn't make sense to just bench Swift for the hell of it. Come on, freaking Lonny Baxter can't be more effective than Swift (if he is, bring up some stats for me Durvasa to prove me wrong).

Nah, you're right. There are some similarities (backup power-forward benched in mid-January after lackluster play all season), but it doesn't make nearly as much sense this year. If it is an intentional benching, it would probably have more to do with Swift's attitude or work ethic off the court.

More likely, the staff considers it too dangerous for him to hang around the other players. Maybe he has a particularly contagious strain, and if he comes back too early it could really be disasterous.

they're shortstaffed as it is, they don't want it to spread and cause more problems... and it's not like he's playing particularly well, i mean chuck hayes is looking like he's about to take his job.

maybe this is part of jvg tanking plan *cough*

seriously, they said its contagous, and they are sick of all the injuries so they don't want any more injuries, they're waiting until swift is 100 percent

He actually had his eye scraped and the first lenses of his eyes were scratch and he was seeing blurs and doubles which would cause him vision loss. Ive heard that, but nothing about pink eye. Maybe I'm mistaken.

Chuck Hayes played one game. Give him a week before judging whether or not he's going to continue playing like last game against the Bulls. In fact he could potentially end up be as inconsistent as Swift so one game tells you squat.

Yuck! Well according to the box score, he has SEVERE CONJUNCTIVITIS/ CORNEAL ABRA. Sounds pretty serious eh? He might even have to wear goggles to protect his eyes, when and if he comes back. I don't know why he would be like Mo Taylor and be resting purposely. He has accepted a bench role for 4-5 years, I'm sure he would be glad to do it more.
