<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AznxBaller:</div><div class="quote_post">Shape, I'm pretty sure New York won't be willing to give up Frye. He's a main part of their future it looks like with the numbers he's putting up and plus, why trade a piece of the future while getting two thirty three year old ish veterans in return? I understand part of its unloading Jerome James' contract, but at the same time they're getting very long term deals with Rose and Webber in return. Personally, I don't like getting Marbury. He handles the ball too much and on this team, there's no doubt with Iverson he'll struggle. Both need the ball to contribute and its not like Marbury's a good defender either and plus it would give us a pretty small and defensively weak backcourt.</div>

Larry Brown is one of the few coaches in the league who could careless about the future of his team and doesn't have the patience to develop rookies. He wants to win now, and if it means unloading a future piece for an established player, he'll push for it. If the Knicks landed Webber, Frye's minutes would be cut significantly anyways. It's not a conventional trade, but Larry isn't a conventional coach, and Isiah certainly isn't a conventional GM. Adding Jalen Rose gives Larry the tall, long veteran, PG he loves using. It also allows him to start Nate Robinson at SG.

Chris Webber is the perfect compliment to Eddy Curry because of his high post skills and passing ability.

    <u>Knicks Lineup</u>

    PG - Rose
    SG - Nate Robinson
    SF - Lee
    PF - Webber
    C - Curry

I remember watching the chemistry Marbury and Iverson had in the All Star game a few seasons ago. I know it was an All Star game and no one plays defense, but these two just vibed off each other. I think Iverson is one of the few players Marbury would change his game for. Just imagine having to deal with that backcourt on a nightly basis?

    PG - Marbury
    SG - Iverson
    SF - Iggy
    PF - Dalembert
    C - Hunter

...I thought one of the reasons why the Raptors and Knicks couldn't get a deal done was because of Larry Brown's distaste for reunited with Jalen Rose. Brown's type of team emphasizes a lot of defense, but Webber and Rose don't fit that role too well. Rose especially is known as a bad defender while Webber's knee is a defensive liability. Faster powerforwards can easily blow by him on offense.

Ehh I don't like Marbury coming here. I can't see him and Iverson getting along for an entire season. Artest I think is a guy I would try to get. It's a risk, but if he really has changed we're easily the best in the Atlantic and probably a top 4 East team.

I like Shapes idea of Webber opting out for a 10 million deal though too. That would do wonders for us.

Too bad, Artest just got traded to Sacramento. I had mixed feelings about him coming here anyways, so its no big loss in my opinion.

We dont need another ego in Philly, so its great news we didnt trade for Artest. Lets get some smart defensive players, like the guys on Detroit or SA. Not all-about-me players like Artest.

I totally disagree and now with the trade falling thru we got a second chance at him and realisticly a better chance bc Indy will prolly just be looking to move him for less BK make it happen

Artest was going to go to Sac for PEJA do you think he is that much better of a shooter then Korver and for the fact that they are prolly going to be looking to ship him for less now after all that happened i would say yes we have a realistic chance

Terrell Owens has been causing problems his whole career. As far as I know Artest was never that much of a headcase until that brawl where his temper went off. Ever seince then everyone has been exagerating his attitude. He is a guy who palys the game to win.

October 4, 1999: Fined $5,000 and sent home from the league's rookie orientation for missing a meeting. Bulls GM Jerry Krause said Artest overslept, while also having a friend in his room when visitors weren't allowed.

February 21, 2001: Suspended for one game and fined $7,500 for fighting with Glenn Robinson during Bulls-Bucks game.

June 13, 2001: Broke two of Michael Jordan's ribs during a pickup game. "I'm not sure what happened," Artest said in the Chicago Daily Herald. "I was just guarding him. I was just trying to get position because he was posting me up. I don't even recall him stopping for a brief second. ... I read it in the paper and was like, 'Man, Mike's ribs got broke. How'd his ribs get broke?'"

May 25, 2002: Girlfriend Jennifer Palma, mother of one of Artest's sons, accused him of grabbing her around the neck and by the arm during an argument. No charges were filed, but she was given a protective order, which Artest allegedly violated several days later by calling her. Harassment and criminal contempt charges were later dropped.

December 19, 2002: Fined $10,000 for shoving the Mavericks' Raja Bell and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection, which occurred after he was given his second technical foul.

Jan 4, 2003: Suspended three games and fined $35,000 for smashing video equipment after a loss to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

January 30, 2003: Suspended four games (costing him $84,000) after confrontation with Heat coach Pat Riley on the sidelines during the game, then flipping his middle finger at the fans in Miami.

March 9, 2003: Suspended one game for flagrant foul (sixth of the season, which led to automatic suspension) on Trail Blazers' Bonzi Wells.

March 13, 2003: Suspended one game for flagrant foul (seventh of the season, which led to automatic suspension) on 76ers' Eric Snow.

March 20, 2003: Suspended two games for flagrant foul on the Celtics' Paul Pierce five seconds into the game. Eighth flagrant foul called for automatic two game suspension.

April 3, 2003: Fined $20,000 for making an obscene gesture to the crowd in Cleveland.

Those were everything before the 03-04 season. You can read the rest here at http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2281289

yeah. haha. at least TO never got into much legal trouble. it was just all locker room trouble. oh yeah, and this cracked me up:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Ron Artest, whose self-titled CD hits stores this summer, told the New York Post that his New Year's resolution is to: "Teach math classes in elementary schools throughout the country.</div>

if you ask me, if we could have gotten Artest we would be one of the best teams in the league... we would go from having bad defense to good defense... not San Antonio defense... but enough to be one of the best teams in the league ... simply because Korver can't play D... and since he would be involved in the trade that would open up a slot for the best defensive player in the league to slide in... but it didn't happen
