"That was something to behold. It was another level. I've seen some remarkable games, but I've never seen one like that before." -- Los Angeles coach Phil Jackson on Kobe Bryant's scoring bonanza in the Lakers' 122-104 home win. Mind you, the man coached a certain guy named Michael Jordan for eight seasons. I Love Phil! Sign him to 3 years 30 million contract every week! What would it take for us laker fans to make our general managaer Bitch Kuptchak persue Ron Artest? - Maybe in our next laker game we should chant " We want Artest " What do you guys think? But that will give artest more credibility! what do you think?
We aren't going to get Artest. Kupchak won't give up Lamar, Kobe won't give up Lamar, and Phil won't give up Lamar. We're winning games, we won't make the finals, but we wouldn't with Artest, either. Right now, we have who we have. The only way we'll improve is for the team to have more time together and off-season acquisitions.
Agreed. I wouldn't give up Lamar either. He infuriates me at times but he sees the floor well and he rebounds.
Without Lamar, this offense would be stagnet a lot more. Artest is not a point forward, something the triangle requires. Lamar rebounds and facilitates the ball nightly, it's his scoring that is inconsistent.
I didnt mention anything about Lamar. I am saying do something to get artest while keeping Kobe Odom Bynum. Arent there any other ways to get him?
I dont think Mitch Kuptchak will make any dramatic changes. I wouldn't trade odom for artest. Lakers need some defensive presence in the post. We all just have to wait till 2007 when the cap space (http://hoopshype.com/salaries/la_lakers.htm) clears.
Odumb, cost us more games than he has helped us. He is too stupid to consistently run the point, just look at the Sacto game, or do it under pressure. If he didn't have 0 points in the first half last night, Kobe wouldn't have had to go off for 81 in order to get a win. Odumb is a power forward, period, end of question. We missed out on Baron Davis last year, if we don't act we will miss out on Artest. Add Artest, the longer we wait the less chance we have to get him. Trade for Jalen Rose to run the point forward spot or just plant Walton or George there. Kwame is an overpaid backup center, that's it.

Trading for Artest makes sense for the current and future plans of the Lakers. It's tough to trade Lamar Odom after the team invested a lot of time in him, but at the same time you don't see much improvement. His game is too, inconsistent and very predictable. He does the same finishing move all the time, and teams are ready to take the charge after he does his spin move trying to bank it off the glass with the left hand. One thing Odom does very well and consistenly is rebounding. However, the Lakers can find a much cheaper rebounder who can actually defend in the post consistently. When the triple-double Odom shows up, he's earning his pay at $11M. However, the triple double Odom only shows up 1 out of 4 games for the Lakers. Giving us 100% only 25% of the time is a major concern. Even if Artest doesn't work out, the Lakers will have an additional $7M to spend in 2007. This team is not built to allow Kobe to lead them back to the Finals. You have to surround him with defensive specialists, consistent rebounders, skilled shooters and players who know how to move without the ball.
We have a chance to get Bosh in 2007. What do you guys think? If we trade odom away now for artest. He is worth 12 million compared to artests contract which is only 7mil. We would be able to clear more capspace for 2007. Kobe/Artest/Bosh in 2007 looks good.
Chris Bosh is impossible to acquire. He is a RESTRICTED free agent and I don't see him as the type of player to demand a trade.
I donno but Artest seems like a Dennis Rodman to me a lil wacky but he comes to play basketball night in and night out! He would be a good addition to the Lakers!
Personally, I love bynum...but I think the Lakers could and should trade him as the main component for Artest. I know they are hoping Bynum will be the future of the franchise, but how long will that take? Kobe is in his prime right now, you have to build for right now. Throw Bynum, Medvledenko's expiring contract and the 2nd round pick from miami and get it done.
