My brother said that Steven A was just on ESPN news saying that the Warriors offered DunDun and Cheaney for him and that he mentioned he'd like to be in the bay. I'll try to track down a quote.

He won't have the same pressure in Indy like he does in Golden State and he's signed long term unlike Peja. His skills really compliment JO and SJax, and the Pacers can hide him on defense. The Warriors get a lockdown defender, and also open up PT for Pietrus. This team needed a shakeup and this deal definitely shakes things up for the Warriors.
It is True, I saw Stephen Smith as well. I think he mentioned a draft pick along with Cheaney and Dunleavy. A good deal for us if .... all those big if's with Artest go away and he just plays ball. I wonder if there is any validity to the other trade rumour involving the Blazers, From what i was told, this was broadcast on satellite radio nba channel, so i doubt it has much substance. The blazers trade : joe pryzbilla, steve blake and theo ratliff for Adonyl foyle, derek fisher, zarko chabarkapa and a first rounder

That would be a very good trade I think and would definately help give the Warriors some fire.

I'm a big fan of Steve Blake and I like Joel Pryzbilla. Theo Ratliff is a nice addition as he is a one-time all-star shotblocker. BTW here is the link to the Ron Artest not wanting to go to Sactown. What's the cba rules on demanding a trade from a team you've just been traded to, but hasn't been approved by the league yet?
Artest may be dependable once on the floor, but in between,he gets a wild hair and anything can happen. To Sacto,Peja is a FA at seasons end. Whoever has him can bid,use Bird rights or step aside and use the cap relief elsewhere. Peja's shortterm offsets Artest being player option after next year, and also the concern Artest implodes even before that. For us to be able to do the Dun+ Cheaney for Artest,I think Indy may need to add a player to salary match. If there's an angle, like Dun's contract not kicking in until after the season,I have not seen that explained or confirmed. It would be an Artest deal that works for the Warriors,we get stronger at SF,without getting weaker elsewhere. We do get, probably,a rather short Artest era,and he may turn into a real ass,but we weasel out of that very optimistic contract Dun has. The rest of the iceberg can be important as there's implication that something is in each package besides those 3 players. Do we give a Rd 1 or Rd 2,what year,do they kick in a player and who,do we add a player, such as Taft or Monta or Zarko, which, all things considered could be a bigger "cost" than Dun or Cal.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Chris Mullin isn't stupid. There is no way you trade a player like Murphy for a basket case like Artest. Now, if you're talking Peja for Murphy, well, that's something different. I spoke with two different NBA sources today who each said that the Pacers want Peja in order to move him elsewhere as soon as possible. One source mentioned three teams that Indiana would consider shipping Peja to. The other source mentioned two teams. The only team both mentioned was Golden State, with each saying that Indiana would get Murphy and send Peja to the Warriors. That would be an awesome deal for both teams. Golden State is absolutely in love with jacking up 3s. Peja would actually give them a player who can make them. And by moving Murphy, this would give rookie Ike Diogu a chance to play a bigger role, which the Warriors definitely want to happen.</div> http://www.mlive.com/pistons/weblog/
Nice find Cohan Hater, that's an interesting spin on the Peja-Artest trade. If the Warriors did pull it off it would leave them with Dunleavy, Pietrus, and Peja at the 3. Also Monty loves running a 3 guard rotation for stretches of the game so I don't see how this deal makes much sense, except to unload Murphy's contract. As for Duns contract issues, I think Kwan and wtwalker covered it last time. Apparently the Pacers have a trade exception that would allow them to absorb Duns poison pill.
I'd have to assume that there'd be another trade to move one of the other guys if this trade went through. Pietrus would play a lot of 2 behind JRich, but there aren't many minutes there to be had. And Dunleavy could play the 4 against small lineups, but all in all I'd see it as a logjam at the swing position.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Greazy9:</div><div class="quote_post">Trade to Sac is back on. Give me a F@%!ing break! j</div> Please provide a source, thank you! Let us know if it was on TV/radio for instance. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Ao65...ov=ap&type=lgns Trade says its on hold for now. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2304942 Ron Artest stands in the way of the pending deal. I guess whatever happens, Ron Artest would either suck it in or he would immediately demand a trade from the Kings. And also the Cheaney/Dunleavy deal for Artest would be complicated since it needs an additional piece to work. Maybe trade exception or something or future 2nd round pick. The future pick would have to be lower or there needs to be another player from Indiana thrown in to make the trade work.
Just to dump Murphy's contract is reason alone to do the peja deal. We're dealing with a less efficient Jamison here. Peja could be a long term solution? I have no idea but I'd give him a green light to shoot three's compared to Murphy. I don't know whether Diogu is going to be a stud PF but I think he's clearly going to be better than Murphy.
Anyways that Blazers deal sounds great....too bad it won't come true. Pryzbilla was a monster at the end of last season. Not sure about this season though.
