Freakin hater Vince, Kobe was mad and wanted to explode on the Raptors. He had the tenacity to win and excell. Something Vince didn't do in Toronto. Enough said.....
Please, even though those comments came from the wrong person, it's not a hate attack on Kobe. What Carter said was right. Inspireing kids to do it all for themselves, it destroys the game.
VC is just jealous... if he was the one who dropped 81 he'd celebrate unlike humble little kobe. The reason why t-mac and A.I. did not comment about it is coz they were also jealous and had nothing good to say

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LOS ANGELES — Vince Carter was in the middle of a firestorm and didn't know why. He had addressed Kobe Bryant's 81-point explosion. He said it was great, but that he hoped kids didn't think they could go and do it — because only Kobe Bryant has that kind of ability. So Carter has been ripped for ripping Kobe. "I wasn't trying to put down what was accomplished," Carter said last night. "What was said was that kids who think they can be Kobe Bryant and score 81 points in their high-school basketball game, they can't. There's only one guy who can do that, and he already did it." But Carter was bashed in L.A. and on television. Bryant was quoted as rebutting Carter with, "As for a message to the youth, [it] is that if you work hard, you can go beyond anyone's expectations, even your own." </div> Vince denies comments were Kobe-Bashing
I'lll say it again: I agree with what Carter said, and it's not "hating" on Kobe. This is a classic case of taking a quote out of context and going crazy over it. Pete Maravich averaged 45 points a game in college by taking nearly 40 shots attempts per game. Is that the right way to play? Is that what young players should try to emulate their game after? Kobe happened to be extremely hot, but that doesn't mean they were particularly good shots. Anyone who saw what Kobe was doing in the second half of the third and in the fourth -- yes it was amazing, but young players who are still learning how to play the game the right way shouldn't try to do it. That's all Carter was saying, and he's absolutely right. I mean, they made a freakin' movie about it in the 80s, for goodness sake -- Teen Wolf.
T-mac on Kobe: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I'm still in awe of what that kid did," said Houston's Tracy McGrady. "It was just a hell of a performance for him to shoot the ball only 46 times to score 81 points. But not just to be able to shoot it 46 times, but to shoot it 46 times and hit well over 50 per cent. There are nights I'm in the 30s of shots taken and I've been fatigued. To take 46 and 20 free throws and end up with 81 points, I didn't believe it."</div> http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...ol=970081562040

The reason why t-mac and A.I. did not comment about it is coz they were also jealous and had nothing good to say </div> I don't post as often on here anymore but I felt compelled to write in response to this. I am a pretty huge Kobe fan but ALL of you guys that are just flaming Vince are taking his words EXTREMELY out of context. Re-read what he said again, and tell me if you agree whether what he said is right or not. For every 10 kids in highschool, there's always that one that's stupid enough to believe that he can emaluate someone that he really can't, but regardless will try. Kobe has an enormous effect on how kids see and play basketball due to his outstanding on-court persona... Many kids do indeed immitate him in thier own games....Carter didn't say what Kobe did wasn't amazing...he said (paraphrasing), some stupid kids on a high school team will eventually use this as a rationale behind them hoisting numerous shots despite what everyone says... As Carter said in his clarification....only one person can do it, and he did it already...that's all there is to it.. You super hardcore Kobe fans need to chill out...it's not as if Carter said he wasn't impressed with the effort (I'm sure everyone was.)... Give the man a break and stop talking like he accused Kobe of murder. His comments in regards to the kids were true, it's not a diss towards Kobe. However, I'm sure none of you will change your opinion either but I just had to share my view.
The reason I said VC was hating because him and Kobe were about to get down the last time they played and you know there was some tension between the two. And coincidentally, Kobe scores 81 pts, and VC doesn't seem to happy or proud of Kobe, I wonder why. Now, if Iverson scored 81 points, I bet your LIFE, that Vince wouldn't have said that. It's not being a super hardcore fan to Kobe, it's being able to read between the lines, which I feel you guys are failing of doing so. I know exactly where Vince was trying to get it, and he needs to shut his mouth, and stop being a hater, because he wishes he could have done what Kobe did. The Lakers were down by 18 in the 3rd quarter, Kobe stepped up and singlehandedly took over the game and the Lakers won by 18. That's what an MVP player does. It's not like he planned on scoring 81 points right from the Tipoff, that's just how it happen. So what I say to Mr. Carter is GO F*#@ YOURSELF. thanks =)
here's another article with regards to the matter - it was in today's paper in Toronto: <div class="quote_poster">Quoting National Post:</div><div class="quote_post"> Basketball: Pot calls kettle black Vince Carter, who has taken about 250 more shots than anyone else on the N.J. Nets, says Kobe Bryant sets a bad example for youngsters by scoring so much. Reacting to Bryant's 81-point game against Toronto, Carter said: "Kids ... are going to think, I am going to go out there and do it instead of [honouring] the team concept first'." </div> http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/sp...-14046c18e995//
I don't think anyone that actually read where the article with his comments would consider it hating. He said about wow 10 times, then says he doesn't think kids who aren't as talented as a guy like Kobe should go out and try to emulate that. What is wrong about that? You don't want the star player on every team now thinking when his team is down he can now score 81 points, no, we're not all Kobe. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">It wasn't a diss, but Vince Carter giving this type of advice is the problem I have. He needs to practice what he's preaching because he's not a team player.</div> I don't agree with that, before Vince started scoring a lot this season, Kidd, Jefferson and Frank had to tell him to take more shots and not pass up shots as much as he was. In Toronto, he gave up the ball way too much to lesser teammates trying to involve them in the game, and at times it was quite annyoing to see him doing something like drive and kick to Milt or Michael Curry, even if they had no one within 20 feet of them. Yes he's up there in shots, but the guy is a team player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting thedude9990:</div><div class="quote_post">i thought vince was amazed or something anyways that is pretty f'ed up and shaq said "give me 50 shots and see how much i score"</div> Shaq couldn't take 25 shots let alone 50 shots with the shape he is these days...

I just don't have much respect for players like Vince on the court. He has all the talent in the world, he's probably the most athletic player in the league, but he's never committed himself to the game and played consistently at a high level.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting thedude9990:</div><div class="quote_post">i thought vince was amazed or something anyways that is pretty f'ed up and shaq said "give me 50 shots and see how much i score"</div> He'd be exauhsted by the time he got shot 26!
Here is a response by Vince Carter after he heard people saying that he was hating on Kobe <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I wasn't trying to put down what was accomplished," Carter said last night. First off, all you Kobe fans think everyone is a Kobe hater. Thats not true! Next Vince was not jelous all he said was scoring 81 points was not good for kids he never said Kobe is a bad role model or something. He said himself he is not hating on Kobe and he thinks it's and incredilble acomplishment.
LOL @ Vince replying to reports about the hater comments he made. He saved himself on that one, I'll let it slide I guess.
