Last night on West Coast Bias, Ric Bucher reported Jason Terry is being shopped around by the Mavs. Apparently, the Mavs are concerned with his defensive lapses and the fact Terry is more of a two-guard than the point guard they want. The other issue, is Terry becomes a free agent this summer, and the Mavs have no intention of re-signing him. So basically, the Mavs are trying to get something for him instead of watching him walk for nothing in the summer. Avery Johnson is a lot more comfortable with Devin Harris closing out games and running this team. The Mavs are also running the offense through Josh Howard more, and like the results. Jason Terry obviously has some trade value and could make the difference for some potential suitors.
I think Bucher is stretching the truth of what Avery thinks. Avery wants more out of Terry but Bucher took it a step further. I'm sure most of the players on the mavs are being shopped around but unlikely anything serious. If they get Paul Pierce for Terry they would definitely do it. Only if the right deal comes around which is unlikely.
Well, if there were some areas in the roster the Mavs could improve on what would they be? And is Jason Terry enough to acquire one of those pieces? I could see him being expendable for some of the reasons Bucher mentioned. Also throw in Marquis Daniels returning and also Stackhouse is back. Plus the emergence of Devin Harris. All valid reasons for the Mavericks to shop Terry.
LOL..That's just crazy. There's no way Terry will be traded before the end of the season and disrupt the team chemistry. They'll probably ride the season out and see how the team does in the playoffs before deciding to resign him or not. I'm sure Cuban won't repeat the Nash and Finley episode by letting Terry go without anything in return. I dont think Harris is a good enough starting PG for a championship contending team and there aren't many good Point Guards in the upcoming FA list, so Terry is a safe bet to return next season. If the Mavs do want to trade Terry, I'd trade him along with Damp for another Center or a PG in return.

Atlanta could've told you that 6 years ago. I've accepted that fact and I think Bucher is taking Avery's comments out of context. There isn't much validity to this story I bet, its more of less Bucher trying to get a big story out of nothing. I doubt Terry will be traded this year, but I wouldn't rule out the fact of him getting traded next year if a great-good center is presented to them.
i think i saw an article a while ago about how the mavs wanna keep terry. i highly doubt they want to move him anyways, as he's come up in the clutch a few times this year, and is pretty consistent. the only way i'd give up terry is if we also package dampier and/or van horn with him to get a legit center and pointguard.
terry is a good fit in dallas, i wouldnt agree that this rumor is correct, but weird things do happen.
I would let him finish out the season at least. Regardless of the low assist numbers and the fact that he is more of an undersized shooting guard, the man is clutch. He carried the Mavericks (including Dirk) on his back during the playoffs last year. There's no way I would trade someone who can come up big like he does so often.
no way, keep terry! terry likes it in dallas and i dont think any other player wud bring something better to the table unless it was jkidd...
Rich Bucher knows as much about The Mavericks as I do with Japanese Trigonametry on the Schematics of dialect towards Marsupials extingtion in the African heritage.
Been following the Mavs pretty close for a few years and I just don't think this is the case. Terry wins alot of games for the Mavs. When Dirk isn't hot, JT has got to get his shots. Howard handles the ball well, sure, but he has never been a scorer unless he has to be; then he'll take it hard to the hole because he's never been money from 18 feet out.

Terry isn`t exactly what you would call a true point guard, but as mentioned before he comes up and huge and makes the big shot. If the Mavs end up trading him for just another point guard, who has just maybe better assist`s numbers, it would also feel pointless.
Also, Terry brings swagger to Dallas, kind of like what Baron does for Golden State. DON'T TRADE HIM. If anything they should think about trading Josh Howard or Marquis Daniels - I like them, but if you could get a nice slasher type of 2 guard that would be worth it.
Sounds like Ric Bucher wants to sabotage Dallas. He also said that Dallas should put Dirk at center more and go small ball.

A slashing two-guard. I wouldn't trade either of those players.
