Dude, do we need to start negativity threads? It's just not something you need to reinforce you know? Everyone feels the pain of losing, but c'mon now. I'm just saying because I used to be venting like that too. I mean there's a subtle way to vent and then there's just dragging it on. We're halfway through the season and a lot can change.
Yeah, sadly but true. This pacific division is so tough, and we are just about 1 game ahead of the kings
Let's put it this way. You can't expect to be a millionaire after your first paycheck, you gotta work for it and maybe get a little lucky along the way. In other words, the addition of Baron Davis improved the team, but I think we need to make more moves, get more talent at certain positions, make the talent fit together, do the little things, hustle, play smart, execute. To put the pressure on Diogu or any rookie still developing to be a 20/10 player is a bit ridiculous especially when NBA referees call phantom fouls on anybody with less than two years of experience in the NBA. If we want short term success we make a right trade at the deadline, if we want to homegrow talent, we need to develop these guys right now so they can get some burn. However, we got a lot of salary committed to borderline starters like Murphy, Dfish, Foyle, Dunleavy. I'd take Dunleavy if he can drive the lane like he does nowadays, but Murphy and Foyle just don't seem like they fit too much. Also Dfish robs a bunch of players of time like Ellis/Pietrus.
What's that expression... "A watched pot never boils?" Don't they say the definition of insanity is repeating the same action over and over but expecting a different result every time? So why do I keep watching the Warriors, year after year, and expect contention for the 8th seed every year? I must be insane. <goes and locks self in padded room>
I'm with Custodian, patience is needed. Okay, so that flash of last year and the start of this year was not a firm foundation, but a flashpoint, well let's just take that and move on. There are some foundation points, let's just be patient and let the young bigs develop rather than trade Diogu, Pietrus, Biedris for some Alton Lister/Jamal Magliore type who you can only hope will jell before they blow some body part and then are saddled with a big contract on the bench.
Let's face it, we're beating the teams we should, and losing to better teams. (Road wins are tough for teams with no depth). Beidrins gets 3 fouls in less than a minute, Pietrus lost his spark.. Ike needs minutes at the 4, Murphy plays 0 defense, Dunleavy is completely inconsistent, Baron is starting to get frustrated, Monty can't seem to find the right lineup. Honestly, I just think this team is put together wrong. Ideally the team needs an energy guy to be brought in with a fresh attitude, even if he's a bench guy. The Lakers are a team that are on par with us, but we're playing at Staples center, we're slumping, Kobe's on fire, expect another loss. We need mully to drop talent and pick up pieces that fit. What good is it to have Zarko and Beidrins on the bench when they don't play? Why have Murphy playing such heavy minutes when he consistently gives other 4s season highs in points? Time to make a change or two, even if they're not drastic.
Murphy played pretty well last night and the night before. You know when his shot is falling he looks pretty sweet, he had 20 and 11 by the end of the 3rd qtr. What stinks are those high pick and rolls above the 3 pt arc, watch Nash, his pick and rolls are always at the elbow.
After 11 years you tell fans to have patience? This team needs to win, and win now. Warriors have been a farm for more than a decade. Artest would have changed the Warriors into a better team, but Mullin did not get a trade going. The present state of the Warriors is just sad, but patience is the key right? The Warriors management and fans have to start thinking about the present, and not where they'll be 3+ years from now. I doubt warriors fans who waited 11 years are thinking about how good the warriors are going to be 3+ years from now. The Warriors organization hyped up this season, they should live up to it. I say make changes.

Remember, there is another team involved too (i.e. Donnie Walsh). I'm sure he didn't want what Mullin was offering and Mullin's not going to bend over for Donnie Walsh just so he can get the deal done. There's doing it right and then there's just doing it. Which brings me to my next point, do you want the Warriors to have one winning season and then be crappy again for the next 10 years or whatever? Why not build for the future and be patient AND hope that the current team can progress at a rate which wins (more than they have in the past) now? You're proposing that the W's win now and don't worry about the consequences. The Warriors have been a victim of poor management and a lot of bad luck the past 11 years and there's no reason to rush into something that certainly does NOT guarantee winning; and even if something does guanrantee winning now (i.e. landing an impact player like Garnett or someone of that caliber), what are the chances of that happening to the Warriors when only every team in the NBA is trying to improve their situation sans a few like the Spurs, Pistons, et al.?
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Why not build for the future and be patient AND hope that the current team can progress at a rate which wins (more than they have in the past) now?</div> How can we do that without unloading Murphy, Dunleavy, Foyle and Fisher's contract? The only player out of those 4 with any potential is Dunleavy, and he's inconsistent. Pietrus, Biedrins, Zarko, Ike all have upside, but if we hold on to them to "progress" we won't be able to afford them and their value is greater than their contracts. This is the time to package 1 or two of them with a few of those larger contracts in order to make a more balanced team. This team needs pieces to the puzzle, not necessarily a superstar. It may be necessary to downgrade talent in order to win both now and later. I don't understand why giving up more talent (Murphy) for a shot blocking 4, is necessarily hurting the team. Beidrins and Zarko rarely get playing time, and Pietrus is going to be too expensive if no moves are made.
Ever think that we have the wrong group of players playing together? Good players that don't fit together well as a team? While they are "building" for the future, theres no gurantee it'll get better. Who knows, maybe they'll be even worse in 3+ years as they build. You say theres no gurantee for wins right now if they rush into something, but theres no gurantee that what they're "building" is going to bring wins. I don't want to hope for 3+ years and be dissapointed. I feel if a team is doing bad, make changes (ie. players, coaches, starting rotation). Take the active route and don't be passive. Mullin made changes last season and made the Warriors a better team, I see no reason for him to stop the changes. Just my .02c.
I agree that we have alot of players that don't fit together and we need to make moves but its much easier said than done. We have no one like Peja who is not only an all-star but an expiring contract, so Artest wasn't really an option unless we wanted to give up Diogu and extras. Right now theres no one on the market who can help our team, the possibilities are pretty much down to Kandi man and Blount. Neither player is much of an improvement over what we have.
Build now? Yeah the 11 years have been crappy, well try the last 30. But I say patience because you have to forget the past, trying to make up for the past is only going to put you in the whole further. You want build now? Go be a Knick fan, they try to implement your build now philosophy every year. What do you end up with? Some psuedo superstar (Marbury); some overpaid "names" (Malik Rose/Penny/Crawford); and Jerome James ($35M due, makes Foyle look all-NBA); all for $105M. That's the last thing the Warriors need. Even with the crappy play of late, they at least have hope and young talent.
The Suns seemed to be doing well with some quick additions. Apparently to you a quick fix automatically means the Knicks. And I think it's common knowledge that Isiah sucks at being a manager.
Artest did say that it will take him at least a month to get back into playing shape. I don't have a link to this, but I remember reading it. But maybe it wouldn't really matter, because with the way the Warriors are losing, maybe they'd just end up in last anyway. As for what is the use of Zarko and Biedrins if they don't play? Well I agree with that question, what is the use? What is the use for our bench in general, besides Fisher and sometimes Pietrus? But I agree, maybe trading some of those younger guys for talent or maybe expiring contracts could be brighter, as these players don't get any significant playing time and will most likely not be resigned in the near future due to cap reasons. Or maybe a new head coach will come in and give more significant minutes to the bench.
Maybe this team is not a perfect team but, there has to be some growing pains in order for the team to get better. The odds are not really in our favor but we can't panic and made changes just for the sake of shaking things up. I mean who's out there that we can actually get that will improve our team? There are not going to be another Baron Davis fleecing anytime soon. We still have time to make a trade and there is still time left in the season to right the ship.

This last month and a half has been brutal for us, hopefully we'll get back on track after the all-star break and make a nice little run. It isnt likely that we'll slump like this the entire year, February is another difficult month, but not nearly as bad as January. March and April pretty weak months, we'll still have a shot to get in as long as we stay around .500 through the all-star break.
