Well, Kobe is a shooting gaurd not a point gaurd. People want him to lead his team in assists and points. I think he is doing a great job playing defense and still putting up the kinda points he has been putting up latetly. He would have more assists if his teamates would make more open shots he serves them up. Its all good Kobe is starting to gain respect around the league and its all good. But then again have you guys noticed a few people are trying to bashing him more then ever!?!

The misconception people have about good basketball teams is that they always play unselfishly. In reality, great teams don't play only unselfishly, but they play smart.

A smart player, A, would not hand the ball to an open player, B, unless B has a higher probability of hitting the shot. If Kobe has the ball in a clutch position, he would shoot the ball over his defender rather than passing off to an open Smush Parker because Kobe has a higher probability of making the shot. Same thing applies to if a player's hot. You'd feed a player that's 8/10 from the field the ball as often as possible.

BUT if 4/5 players on your team can score at a high level (like the Pistons and Spurs), then passing and looking for the open man is the smart thing to do. They have so many options on offense that they won't have any trouble if someone's on a cold streak.

Many teams don't have finishers to their disposal (the Suns have great finishers, that's why Nash has no problem distributing the ball), and the only way to score is to feed the ball to the best player's hands. For teams like the Lakers, Nets, and Rockets, they have a better chance of making shots when Kobe, Carter, and McGrady touch the ball on almost every possession.

We have like a zillion "Stop Hating Kobe" threads on this site. You couldn't have posted in one of them?
