I think we could get him relatively cheap. Very good prospect and he looked pretty damn good in the preseason. Acquiring Darko wouldn't dramatically help now but it would be a very good investment for the future. That would give us Darko, Beans, Taft, Diogu, & Zarko. The guys who pay off, we keep and the ones we don't, we let walk. Oh yeah, dump Troy Murphy. Thanks
I've always thought Darko was a decent player, just he almost NEVER gets any minutes. I'm pretty damn sure when his contract ends hes going to leave the Pistons like Okur did.
Totally. I've thought this since last year, was hoping we could trade our first rounder for him (since Detroit had no PT for him). I've heard the argument "If he hasn't developed in practice against the WAllaces, he'll never develop in this league." It has some merit, but I'm just way too intrigued -- big guy's got size, skills, and he can run the floor. And he's got a cool name. Sign him up!!! -- Trade Murphy for Darko + (whatever makes it work).
you guys are talking about that darko that would miss 3 dunks in a row?? lol but he can play low post defense, he can block some shots, he wont be an instant impact if you gets outta pistons but he'll get better
I'm pretty sure he'd be a better 5 than Foyle. He has some range on his shot. He also did well in the euro games I believe.
So tell me... What's with all the Troy Murphy hating in GS? I don't get to see him play much, but when he was a rookie he was very promising, and now he puts up strong numbers. What am I missing? j
Numbers are deceiving. He shoots a low precentage for a 4, gets a lot of rebounds because Guys like Foyle seal their guys off the boards and he roams free to get them, is stagnant on offense, and is quite possibly the worst defending power forward in the league (Maybe the worst overall defending starter in the league). The opposing power forwards look like all-stars putting up season highs against him routinely. He can't play in the post, and our centers get in foul trouble because they're out of position trying to help him weak side to stop the driving power forward from getting to the rim. Is that enough?
Larry Brown moved on to the knicks where he happily plays 3 rookies plenty of minutes. The Pistons still don't play Darko much...and when they play him he does not do much. Summer ball? Euro ball? You get at times a level of competition where almost nobody on the floor has legit NBA talent. I'd be more impressed if he had a few good games in the ACC or Big 10. Darko has shown a slow learning curve, little polish and a lazy streak. A coach WILL find minutes for a player with hustle and a good attitude. To assume Darko is able to replace guys who are starters is quite a leap of faith. What HAS he done? Has he played a season of college? No Has he been a regular on an adult Euro team? No. At this point,Detroit likely hopes they find a desperate team willing to overpay. The real deal is that Biedrens,Taft,Zarko are better than Darko right now...and are improving faster.
I agree. Darko's not the right guy, Murphy should be moved for a legitimate post player or preferably a shot blocking 4. It's sad, but I'd rather have Uncle Cliffy right now than Murphy. He could start, play hard D for 20 minutes a game and allow Ike to see the floor more.
That would be great, Udonis and Mourning... They can have Foyle and Murphy... add any other fillers that can help. Hell Give them Fisher too, we'll take GP.

The whole point of getting Darko would be to get him cheap. Whether he can outproduce Murphy is unknown but he has skills Murphy could never dream of. To dump Murph opens up playing time to Biedrins & Diogu at the 4 spot. They are much more efficient players that can produce without getting 15 shots a game. Darko is a better rebounder than I thought. TE and a 1st rounder, do it Mullin.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kensaku:</div><div class="quote_post">We need Alonzo Mourning!</div> I agree.
You guys can have Darko. hes only good when he plays other scrubs! just face it, we made a bad pick! CARMELO OR DWADE OR BOSH!!! come on joe D

Minnesota won't do that trade. They want to keep Garnett and just traded Wally for Davis and Blount hoping to turn things around and keep Garnett happy. And Diogu won't do good at C. He's a undersized PF, if playing C he'd be a extremely undersized C. Which unfortunately Monty keeps playing him at.

I think Murphy would be a good fit there though, he could space the floor for Shaq and Wade and he is a pretty good rebounder. His defense is obviously bad but with Shaq and Zo in the paint I think they would accept it. They are well over the cap so his contract shouldnt make much of a difference to them. However, all we could probably get for Murph form Miami would probably be Antoine Walker. Another possible Murphy suitor would be Houston. I remember a Houston fan had proposed a Murphy/Fish for Swift/Wesley and everyone here hated it. I might even prefer if it were J. Howard instead of Swift, since he has some post skills. I would do it though, without Murphy, Dunleavy should play better and Swift would be very productive in our "offense" with Baron. Swift provides the athletic big man we've been wanting, he can be a starter until Diogu is ready. Fish for Wesley is a slight downgrade but Wesley has an expiring contract. I'm not sure if Houston would still go for it though, I think they'd like Murph to make some space for Yao and T-Mac as well as grab boards and provide a thrid scoring option but they already have alot of Fisher-type players. Anyhow, those are really the only two places I can see actually wanting Murphy. He really only fits well alongside a dominant C. Maybe NJ but it looks like they would much rather get an athletic, defensive PF.
I would love to get Darko. There's nothing like a 7 foot tall, blonde haired Eastern European victory cigar to throw out there when you're smoking the other team by 30 points. Also, how does one break his hand on an easy dunk attempt and miss several easy dunks. It's like having more athletic, more skilled Adonal Foyle. I like Alonzo Mourning. I think he's better than anything we have right now even if he had a slab of Alpo for a liver and kidney.
