Yeah, I just heard it on ESPN 2 during the halftime show of the Memphis game. They said it was 2 second round picks though instead of one conditional first.

    Heres a link:

And another (though its just the source of the original):

I think this is a pretty good trade for both teams (depending on the pick that Min gives up). Minny trades one scorer for 2 and a couple of solid fillers. Boston trades Davis, who has a similar role and play style as Pierce, for Sczerbiak who is a much different scorer than Pierce, as well as an expiring contract, a promising oyung defensive C, and a pick or two. This also frees up some time for Perkins and Jefferson for Boston and Minnesota gets some scoring for KG.

Why would Boston do this? Davis is having a great year averaging 20/5/5 and get Wally's big contract. Granted, they did unload Blount, but at the expense of Wally's contract -- 4 years, 46 million remaining -- I don't think it was worth it. Neither were the second rounders they got. I just don't understand the deal at all. Anyone else?

This trade doesn't help either teams..They've unloaded 2 bad contracts, but Boston now has to move Pierce to SG and hope the young big guys step up.

All I have to say is that Minny got away with murder.

This feels like pretty much a lateral move by both teams, but it was motivated as much by salary as the players themselves. I think Minnesota got a slightly better deal, simply because I think Ricky Davis' upside is higher with KG playing the two man game with him. KG never liked Wally all that much, but Davis provides a more athletic option who is also a better ballhandler and passer, which should be an asset to Garnett. Both teams are probably just glad to be rid of their center [IMG]

I actually think it's a better trade for the Celtics.

Wally is having the best year of his career, it just hasn't been all over ESPN and whatnot like Davis' has. Basically the three point shooter is something that the Celtics haven't had since well... haven't had. If you call Walker a three point shooter, check the percentages, he isn't one. Anyways, with Pierce's driving ability and athleticism, Wally will get plenty of looks.

Also, Boston unloads the hideous contract of Mark Blount and replaces him with a player who is a solid worker, has an expiring contract, and wont bitch and moan like Blount when he doesn't get played because he sucks. Furthermore, this frees up playing time for Perk and AlJeff, the future powerhouse frontcourt of the eastern conference.

Banks and Jones basically cancel each other out, as Jones hasn't played any minutes making him just as effective or more effective than Banks, who hurts any team any time he steps out on the floor.

In short, we got two guys I loved to watch in college for my two most hated players of all time.

    Not so bad?

H.ayes, I wouldn't get excited about Kandiman as a hard worker [IMG] I know it'll be tough for you guys to hate anyone more than Blount, but Kandi will sure make a case...

    Honestly Schaddy.

    Anyone.

    Anyone but Blount.

    Anyone.

I'd rather have Cameron Manheim than Mark Blount.

    Star Jones even.

    Anyone.

Blount gets more Turnovers and less Rebounds than a PG. Sure worth every penny Boston had paid him. [IMG]

You're right but the difference is Kandi is gone after this year. Boston fans should be happy that after this year Jefferson and Perkins will get alot more time to play.

Its great that Blounts gone but what about Wally? Hes okay but I dont want him taking up that much salary cap space for the next 4 YEARS!!!

This trade further cements my age old theory that Danny Ainge LLLOVES white players! He loved Jiri Welsch, He liked Googz, He liked Danny Dickau, He loved Brian Scalabrinie and he loves (for some reason) Robert Swift and it looks like u can add Wally to that list

This is a bad move on Danny's part. Wow Ricky D for Wally. Yes they are simliar in points only but not in other statistical categories. For God Sakes, what sticks out about Wallly's game? Absolutely nothing. He can shoot but the last time I ched he still could not go by anyone one on one. Most of his points came as a result of double teams created by KG. At least Ricky is one of the best offensive players in the game and when he puts his mind to it, he is a decent defensive player. I would have been fine with MB for Candy A-s but when they expanded the trade, the Cs moved into bad territory. Maybe Danny has another trick up his sleeve. For now, Danny just helped his boy, Kevin McHale, get back to the playoffs at our expensive. Bullsh-t!.

Whoa, crazy trade. Didn't really expect Wally to go any where. Man Ricky Davis has got to be one happy man tonight. He is one of the players that get to play with Kevin Garnett. By the way good point HASAN33.

The only bright spot in this trade for the Celtics is that they unload Blounts contract, and thats been mentioned a million times already so yea. No point in doing this for Boston, they gave up picks too, I think, or that might have been Minny.

They also get a 1st round pick. This deal is addition by subtraction for the Celts, Olowakandi is gone after this season so Jefferson and Perkins can have major roles. I'm not sure about the Davis for Sczerbiak part. I'm guessing they thought it was he better fit alongside Pierce, oh and Ainge likes white players.

the deal doesn't make much sense to both teams...minnesota got blount's horrible contract and boston got one of the worst first overall picks overall AND wally's big contract
the draft picks are 2nd rounders and aren't worth much attention unless the draft is very deep
ricky is an upgrade over wally in my opinion because wally is more one dimensional and ricky is more atheletic+better passer, move the ball better

still though, this trade doesn't upgrade either teams
