Are the Nets a playoff team cuz the nets lost 3 straight and Carter going down and if they do make the playoffs will they go far? What DO you think?
If the Nets get a good big men, and if Carter and Kidd are healthy they will go far. Without the big men they will get to the playoffs but won't get far.
they are definately a playoff team if carter is healthy.. as you see in this past road trip vs jazz, blazers, clippers carter wasnt healthy and lost every game by 10+ points.
Playoff team yes, but legit contender? not really. They need a athletic bigman, who can block shots and be a help defender. Also this has been talked about much but they need some more offensive punch coming off the bench. They need a 2nd unit scorer. A guy that can fill in and have a big night if Carter or Jefferson is not going well or out of the lineup. The Nets rely way to much on 2 guys to put up big nights every single night to win. They need a scorer off the bench, uncle Cliffy prvides us with alot of different things in different areas, but right now he is our leading scorer of the bench. It really shouldnt be that way, that wasnt what his role was surpose to be...so he isnt going to be consistent in the scoring area over the long hall.
We're definently a playoff team with Vince. If, say, VC would have a season ending injury right now (three knocks on the desk...), then we would probably be back in the cellar again. We're not a legit contender anyway, like Henacy pointed out, until we can fill in some holes. But there really isn't much of an option out there right now for an athletic big man who can defend. There aren't many anyway, and those that are good enough won't be traded so easily. The only two players I can think about getting that are good enough for us, but won't need to be traded for one of the big three in return, is Reggie Evans and (maybe)Stromile Swift. I'm not so sold on Swift being that good, anyways.
