Wasnt Ricky Davis a sidekick for Pierce? Isnt Davis better than Szczerbiak? How was this good for Boston? They also had to give up Mark Blount for one of the most worthless players in the league, Michael Olowakandi.

I don't know if Davis is better than Szcerbiak. He can probably jump higher. KG might prefer running with him. But I'd probably keep Wally over Davis.

Davis is a more athletic player than Wally (Just watch the last couple of dunk contests). If Davis put more effort on playing defense then he would be better than wally but he is an on/off type of defensive player. These two are pretty equal in terms of ability, but Wally is a better fit on the Celtics.

You're pretty much wrong on all accounts here.

Wally is a better shooter then Davis, but Davis has more athleticism.

GiantMidget wanted to be enlightened, so here it goes John Locke style.

This is probably the part of your post that holds the most truth. However, sidekicks usually work well together. The only time this season I can remember the two hooking up in a remarkable fashion was the kick out pass from Pierce to Davis for the Memphis game winner. Other than that, the two are too similar (Davis without the shooting touch, rebounding and passing ability, leadership or defense) to play successfully alongside each other. After all, how many playoff series' did they win together? Yeah thought so.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting GiantMidget:</div><div class="quote_post">Isnt Davis better than Szczerbiak?</div>

No. In his tenure in Boston Davis became victim of what I like to call "Greg Minor Syndrome". He was a player on a team with a large fanbase who was likeable, therefore he became highly overrated as an all-around player. His numbers thus far were impressive, but playing as many minutes as he should, and his failure to play consistently (see: 0 points against Detroit) was what killed the C's.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting GiantMidget:</div><div class="quote_post">How was this good for Boston?</div>

    1. They get one of the best outside shooters in the league, something that compliments Paul Pierce's driving ability to the fullest. Also, he averages 20 points per game.

    2. The Celtics offload a horrible contract of a worthless player who has been the most responsible for that whole "worst team in close games" persona the Celtics have taken on.

    3. They get rid of one of their many point guards who is selfish, overconfident and worthless. Good luck with Banks Minnesota, he doesn't fit into any role available in the game of basketball.

    4. They got a first round pick, better than 2 second rounders any day.

    5. They acquired an expiring contract in Olowakandi.

    Need I say more?

I'd rather have someone who's worthless and know it than someone who's worthless and thinks they're amazing. [IMG]

    Enlightened.

I still don't necessarily like the move for the Celtics...IMO, Davis and Wally are similar-scorers, but they score in different ways...Davis is a slasher and Wally's a shooter...We'll probably never use Olowokandi...We just gave away Banks...I still think we could have gotten way more for that package than what we got...but we'll see...

In my opinion Sczerbiak is better than Davis because he can hit his shots..so i think the trade helped out the Celtics since they got Olowakandi and a future first round pick..

Minny got the advantage in this one... and howabout trading blount to Phoenix for Kurt Tohmas? Blount will thrive under Mike D'Antoni

Im watching this show "nba action" on fsn and even theyre trying to spin it as the Celtics coming out the winner of this trade saying things like "wally can also create shots for his teams AND adds another scoring option for the teams leader, paul pierce." Im sorry, what exactly was Ricky Davis then? I have nothing against the Celtics, but why are people saying stupid things like this? The Celtics traded a scorer for a lesser scorer and Mark blount, whos been getting double doubles, for a 7 foot waste of space (olowokandi).
