[IMGL]http://www.nba.com/media/sixers/iverson_injuries_300.jpg[/IMGL]Sixers fans have known for a long time that Allen Iverson was one of the toughest athletes in sports. USA Today helped to legitimize that claim by naming him the No. 2 toughest athlete in professional sports in a Feb. 18, 2004 feature. The Sixers All-Star guard has been sidelined with a litany of ailments in his professional career, but has always seemed to bounce back stronger than before. This was brought to my attention by PhillsAnswer who asked me post the article. This article just shows what every true Sixer fan already knows, Allen Iverson is a warrior, how many athletes can say they have gone through all the injuries this man has yet come out of it an even better player, and leader? Allen Iverson has given it everything he has over his career in Philadelphia, but their are some people who will still criticize him any time the 76ers go through a rough stretch, mostly in the media.

Yeah I think I remember seeing that picture before. It shows how much of a warrior Allen Iverson is. He plays with eart, plays through injury, and he just gets better. Truly an inspirational player.

just because he doesnt have rings doesnt mean he cant be the best player. look at guys like reggie miller, karl malone, john stockton, and charles barkley. stop hating CK. lol.

KOBE'S not even close to being the best player in the league, and he got 3 championships. LBJ's a god, but not the best player in this league's Shaq's the MDE (Most Dominate ever) But he's old. AI will last for 3-5 more yrs, and giving us the hightlight reels, we frill. AI FOR MVP!

Yes but Avery said that Iverson was the best player in the league, the guys you mentioned are Hall of Fame players but the one mistake they made was being born in the generation of Air. Thus not making them the best player in the league, a guy named MJ was. I'm not trying to hate on A.I., he's not the best player in the leauge, and yes the Sixers would be better off without him.

You can make a case that they would be better off without him right now as well. I believe they would, but not in the W column... moreso in allowing our younger guys to develop and learn how to play team basketball.

Would I trade AI? Yes I would.

    If we trade AI,

We are going to be worse (at least not getting better lol) in the short term.

We are going to be better long term.

Right now, the only untouchables on the team are Iggy, Dalembert, and Korver. C-Webb is actually untouchable too bc of his contract but he isnt the future, the other guys are.

Korver an untouchable? Yeah right. His future is not that bright in the league. He will be around long but he is simply a role player who does his job and shoots outside jumpers. Its not like he is actually going to break out into something bigger or better.

Also I don't think the 76ers team would be better without AI. He is a franchise player, right now what other franchise players are on the market so that you get equal value for him. If you traded Allen for someone like Arenas, who is not a franchise player but an all star, I don't think the Sixers would be on the same level. If they trade AI that means they have given up on trying to contend and they are going to rebuild. If they trade AI, they might as welll fire Mo Cheeks, and fire Billy King to. A new GM with a fresh slate, and a new coach for your new team. Do you really want to go right back to square one?

In my opinion the 76ers have a better chance at trying to add pieces for a championship, because right now they don't have many young gems to work with. The young players that they have are pretty good, but not anything you can look to build your franchise on. If you had a top lottery pick than yes, you rebuild. The Sixers don't have the young talent it takes to start all over yet.
