Shawn Marion has a very weird shooting stance and I want to know how come he shoots like that. Peja shoots wierd too but Shawn Marion has one of the ugliest strokes ever. I am not trying to diss him but how come he shoots like that?
I believe he's actually a righty. It doens't matter how he shoots, he gets results, and very good ones at that. It's just the way he shoots. It's a quick release, and effective for him. I recommend you don't mimick his game, though.
^ Yeah what my mini me said. He's right. Josh Childress on the other hand is a different story. He makes Marion jumper looks like Ray Allen jumper.
In a recent interview Shawn defended his shooting stroke by saying that it's not much different than any other, he just "sticks his ass out more". *shrug* Whatever works.
^Yeah they talked about his shot on during halftime of the Suns-Cavs game. Hey, if the ball goes in the basket when you shoot, who cares?
Marion lowered the point of release on his shot because he used to jump too high. If he'd shoot from the normal position, according to him, his shots would go over the rim. As others say, his shot might be ugly, but he makes them.
You can find the answer from his looking. Non-conventional looking, non-conventional shooting. BUt he can make the shots though. and he brings so much fun by watching he shoots.
That's just probably how he learned when he was young. And when you have done it so long if you try to change it it would really mess with his game for a looong time. He's a decent shooter with the way he shoots and that's not really his game so why change it?
he does have an ugly form, lol one of my friend shoots like him exactly like him and my friend make a lot of his jumpshots in... when i shoot like that the ball hits over the fence in the park it didnt even hit the board
Its not about the form but the results. He's just comfortable shooting that way. he pushes his shots which at least gives him a quick release and high arc.
I used to shoot like Shawn Marion then I changed my shot to Iverson's shot now I am trying to get used to it.

Who cares? It seems like every three months we get another post about how ugly Marion's shot is. Then it is followed by a series of posts all basically saying who cares it works. Just something I have noticed since I joined this furom a couple year ago.
