I think that many players in the NBA are starting to believe that wearing long sweatpants underneath of their game shorts is a type of superstition. The players first wear them for medical purposes(keeping legs warm/cramping) and they have a breakout game. Kobe comes out and scores 81 pts. while wearing the pants, and continues to wear them. Lebron wears them in one game for his calf muscle and the Cavs when the game, and now he continues to wear them. Is this just coincidence?
No, I think superstiton has something to do with it, or maybe they just like the feel of it. Professional athletes can be very superstitious...
Actually Kobe took didn't have them on when he dropped 81. And oh and this is nothing directed to you theunknown but why the hell are people talking about guys wearing spandex? If they wear it so what?

I have never heard of players wearing spandex pants during a game, it seems like they would be uncomfortable.
Players are very superstitious. It's the same thing with those Rip Hamilton face masks, half the players don't need them. Take Tmac for example, he wore his for the first 5 minutes of the game yesterday and then threw it off because it was uncomfortable.
Man I`m seeing the tights topic on TV and the web everywhere. But I guess it does become some kind of superstition for players. I never knew why Rip still wore the mask, but whatever helps mentally with your game I guess...

So if he breaks his nose one more, his nose will be like done and he'll have to stop playing. Something along those lines...

Spandex?? I dunno it might be but i think it's one of those things where at first it's required for medical reasons or whatnot, then it becomes "normal" and they don't really think about it. Like i messed up my knee once and i had to wear this polyester brace thing and for some reason i wanted to wear it even after my knee healed. Athletes at all levels are weird like that. I knew guys that had to put on their football equipment on in a certain order and then sit in a certain spot before a game or even listen to a certain song before a game.

LeBron's Cavalier's have won 7 in a row; even the announcer guy in the Phoenix - Cleveland game said the Cavs have been undefeated ever since LeBron put on those tights.
The reason Bron started wearing them in the first place is because he injured his knee. Kobe, Andre Iguodala, and other players have worn them as well probably for the same reasons. They say that the compression tights keep your injured muscles or whatever from getting tight on you. I don't think LeBron cares if the Cavs have won 7 in a row when he is wearing them, but he might start wearing them everygame if he has to wear them for a long time. When AI hurt his elbow the shooting sleeve was given to him, now he wears it because he got comfortable with playing with it and accustomed to playing with it on.

I think I would struggle a lot wearing one of those.
