When Kobe became a free agent he looked at other teams to see what other challenges could be there that might tempt him. During his search, Kobe was informed Shaq had been traded, so he knew there was no chance the Lakers would sign and trade him also. Kobe said he came close to joining Chicago. He actually went house shopping in Chicago. Clippers were a close second because of his relationship with CMaggs and Brand. Kobe said his peers criticizing what he would and wouldn't be with Shaq is what got him thinking about a new challenge, a challenge without being Shaq's teammate. He said Dr. Buss has answered it already, it was a business decision. SAS brings up the interview were Kobe told Jim Gray Shaq was fat and out of shape. Watched the whole thing and you know what...it is safe to say that I admire the man more....he is just simply great...I mean I aint religious but for him to say those things was just awesome....he is truly a great guy....truly truly great... now this came up in my head when Iverson was talking....SINCE these A.I. and Kobe are like buddies (least I think they are especially with A.I. praising Kobe alot)...wouldn't it be nice if A.I. came down to Cali to help his buddy out? wishful thinking
Can somebody post a link to this interview online? I missed it and there not going to show the whole thing on sports center. By the way Shape, great job on the post
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting DynastYWarrioR6:</div><div class="quote_post">Watched the whole thing and you know what...it is safe to say that I admire the man more....he is just simply great...I mean I aint religious but for him to say those things was just awesome....he is truly a great guy....truly truly great... now this came up in my head when Iverson was talking....SINCE these A.I. and Kobe are like buddies (least I think they are especially with A.I. praising Kobe alot)...wouldn't it be nice if A.I. came down to Cali to help his buddy out? wishful thinking</div> Took the words right out of my mouth, I love Kobe even more now, what he said was the truth. I love AI so much man, everything he said was SO ON POINT. That interview was great, can't wait to see it again.
Man, AI has a lot of respect for everybody in this league... Kobe is probably right there behind Shaq in his eyes, because AI has nothing but positive things to say about both of them. He just loves Shaq though... As much as I want AI to get a ring I cannot fathom him being in the purple & gold... unless he is traded there for some unknown reason. Now, if Kobe came to Philly to team up with AI, then I'm all for it! Too bad neither of those things will happen... Oh yeah, if anybody does indeed find this episode of Quite Frankly on the internet, please post the link... I want to add it to my collection (AI, Shaq and LB).
Oh I don't think it could happen, but hey as a fan we like to speculate...but all in all...and I'm sure illmatic agrees with me...and Shape better agree with me that I respect Kobe Bryant more now as not only as a basketball player and tremendous athlete, but as a man as well....a family man in fact.
if either kobe goes back to play for his hometown philly or AI comes to LA and play for the lakers, man that would be great i cant imagine these 2 superstars playing together, this would never happen but i sure hope i can see these 2 and t-mac team up all together to play for team USA, iverson+kobe+t-mac=unstoppable
The part where Kobe said he won't rest until he gets another championship was like "WHOAAAAAA" That's such great news
I love it when he's talking about his peers saying he can't win without shaq and he squints his eyes and is like "I don't like that..."
Kobe is determined to get another championship. I see him trying to get lure guys in the 2007 offseason. He's also in the Olympics so maybe he's strengthning relationships with other players.
