Does anyone think Shaq will be able to averae at least 20 points and 10 rebounds for his 14th consecutive season. <u>Shaq</u> PPG: 19.3 PPG RPG: 9.5 RPG 28 Games Played Games 29.4 MPG Heat Games Left: 38 O'Neal has only played 28 games so he has a good chance if he keeps playing like he is to get those numbers. No playeri n NBA history other than Shaq has did this for 13 straight seasons. Can Shaq also become the first to make it to 14? I think so unless Riley saves him for playoffs by limiting his minutes even more.
Very good chance, O'Neal has stepped up to Riley's challenge to be a better rebounding presence. Also his rotation on his free throws looks A LOT better, so he's definitely been working on that aspect of his game. The only obstacle is injuries, and limiting his minutes like you mentioned above. Also watching DWade lately, he's obviously not 100% and could miss a few games to rest his body. If Wade goes out, Shaq's production should increase in those games.
he can do it, his numbers have been rising more and more gradually since he got back. If he gets his 34 minutes, then yes
he's definitely been progressing over the past few games and i don't see how the most dominant player in the league can't average 20 and 10 by season's end.
Shaq is having his best rebounding year since his rookie season, if you go by rebound rate. He's playing less minutes, and the Heat play at a slower pace compared to his Magic and Lakers teams, so his rebounding numbers don't look as good as they are. I think he'll get to 20/10, if he gets the minutes. I don't think anyone in the league right now would be getting 20/10 playing under 30 minutes a night. As it stands, I believe his 20/10 streak of 13 years is the longest in NBA history.
Which players have the second most number of seasons with 20/10? and how many did they reach? I'm guess Malone(9), Hakeem(12), Kareem(12), and Wilt(14?) got to be up there. This will be tim Duncan's 9th and he probably can do it for a few more years. KG's 8th this season.
It just shows how dominant shaq has been in his career, not even wilt chamberlain or kareem have had 13 straight seasons of 20 and 10.
To check any player's career numbers, just go to www.basketball-reference.com, and type their name in the player search. Wilt only played for 13 seasons, and in his last few years he didn't even average 20 points a game. One interesting stat for Wilt though: he never had a game in which he didn't get at least 10 rebounds. That, to me, is simply mind-boggling.
Are stats really that important? It's all about winning. And the Heat aren't in the race for the championship.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Tomahawk:</div><div class="quote_post">Are stats really that important? It's all about winning. And the Heat aren't in the race for the championship.</div> "All about winning." That's a pretty boring and naive way of looking at sports. If that's the case, let's just get rid of all the end of season awards, the all-star game, and the HOF. And of course the Heat are "in the race" for a championship. They were 10-5 in January, and 8-3 in December with Shaq in the lineup. That's a 55+ win pace. Yeah, Detroit is far and away the best team in the conference at this point in the season, but I wouldn't pick any other team over Miami in a playoff series.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting superman32:</div><div class="quote_post">Duncan Wont next year and KG will for another 2-5 years</div> Sorry but I believe Duncan is gonna average double digit rebounds for atleast 3 or 4 more years. The guy is playing hurt right now and is getting 11 boards a game in limited playing time. As for Shaq, I believe he can have another 20/10 season this year if he can average around 32mpg by the end of the season.
As far as I can see, the current ranking of consecutive 20/10 seasons is: 1. Shaq 13 (14) 2. Kareem 12 2. Hakeem 12 4. M. Malone 11 4. C. Barkley 11 4. B. Petit 11 7. Wilt 9 (9* 20/20 btw) 7. Ewing 9 7. K. Malone 9 10. Duncan 8 (9)
