<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NEW YORK -- A Houston Rockets player has the top-selling jersey sold in China.

Not that player, the other one.

Tracy McGrady tops the list of best-selling NBA player jerseys in China, based on sales from retail locations across the country as of November 2005, the league announced Monday. Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson is second and Houston center Yao Ming is third.

Yao, a native of Shanghai, was the first pick in the 2002 draft and one of the first Chinese players in the NBA. He also has played for the Chinese national team.

McGrady gave a knowing smile when asked about the top sellers.

"I'll give you the top 3," he said Monday. "Probably myself, Allen Iverson and Yao Ming."</div>

Very interesting and surprising. I think Allen Iverson is the one that surprises me the most actually because most of China are Rockets fans so they already had the Yao probably and now their getting their T-Macs especially since Yao is injured. I do remember Allen Iverson going with Yao Ming to CHina before though so I guess that's where it came from.

No surprise. I went to China this past summer and there were a lot of McGrady and Iverson jerseys. Lebron is a big seller there too, but most Chinese fans have moved past Yao and begun looking to other NBA players. Most who own jerseys most likely already own Yao's, anyway.

I'm not surprised. Yao's jersey probably sold old the first 2 years. Now that everyone has one they're buying Yao's new teammates jersey.

The david wesley jersey is probably a top ten seller there.

I don't buy it being the reason T-Mac is Yao's teammate. Laker fans don't start buying Lamar Odom jerseys just because they already have a Kobe Bryant one.

    Wrong.

Yao and McGrady are the only two Rockets players in the top 10. I'm sure you won't even see many Wesley jerseys in Houston, let alone China.

I'm basing that on the fact wesley got so many votes for the all-star competition, more than bibby, j-rich etc. so he must have some fans.

Yeah but you actually have to pay for jerseys. You don't have to pay for votes. I have a feeling most of those votes were simply because Houstonians were voting for their home team, not because they're his fans.

I am more surprised that AI is number 2 than T-Mac and Yao at 1 and 3. Most people probably already own a Yao jersey, T-Mac being Yao's superstar teammate definitely got some love.
