<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ORLANDO -- Dwight Howard is a modest guy. The Orlando Magic are a modest franchise.

That formula might work out perfectly in some aspects, but it's perfectly awful when it comes to getting the 20-year-old forward and NBA's leading rebounder some long-overdue national recognition.

In the week ahead, the Eastern Conference coaches can change that by picking Howard to be among the non-starters in the All-Star Game. Should they vote him to the squad, it would mean an end to his days of playing under a variation of the federal witness protection program.

The only time the Magic have appeared on ESPN or TNT this season was in November at Cleveland, a game which couldn't be expunged from their memory quickly enough. And lots of luck trying to get anyone within the organization to discuss on the record Howard's chances of being invited to Houston.

"That's the last thing he needs to be thinking about," a high-ranking team official said.

But if you think about the history he could be making, it's time somebody began speaking up on his behalf.</div>

I thought this was a pretty cool article about Dwight and about how he never gets tons of attention despite his amazing performances.

I think he's going to go down the path that Elton Brand went. Constant 20 and 10's, efficientcy rating throug the roof, yet little recognition for it.

All because their teams can't win games and advance into the playoffs. [IMG]

Dwight deserves to be a all-star he has been double teamed all year leads the league in rebounding and is scoring 15 pts with only about 10 shots a game. All this and he's barely 20yrs old it's pretty stary how good he could be.

He goes for 24 and 16 tonight against the Hawks, 9-11 from the field. I'm trying to figure out why he only got 11 shots when he's shooting 81% from the floor.

That's what Rockets fans were saying about Yao when Francis was here ...

They seem to go to him early in games then he goes out and when he comes back in they forget about him (good and bad games) I don't know if it's coaching or teams adjusting to him or just inexperience

only if Jameer was there to play the PG and the "Franchise" was traded... watch, as soon as Stevie gets out of there Dwights gonna be like 20 and 13..
remember when Starbury got traded in Amare's 2nd year out of High school? amare averaged 24+ppg in post marbury that season..
    Imagine what Dwight can do

Yeah, Dwight is doing a great job this year. At first, I was wondering why we weren't seeing such a jump in his scoring like you would have expected. I remember toward the end of his first season he was looking a lot more comfortable creating his own shot when in isolation in the paint. His footwork and techniques were looking a lot better too. It's really amazing to see how far he's come in that respect, he's not just relying on his athleticism anymore. But when you look at the number of shots he gets a game, you can see why he's not scoring that much more this year.

His shooting is better, he even has a bit more range, but the truth is that when he gets the ball he gets a quick double-team, and there are other points where you see him open but Francis or Turkoglu take a forced shot anyways. Lately, I've noticed that Turkoglu has been thinking he can make just about anything and is driving to the basket with two to three guys on him and missing horribly. I'm starting to think that those couple big games that he had a week or two ago went to his head.

As far as Francis goes, well, we know how much he loves to force the ball. Dwight is going to be something special and hopefully the Magic will hold onto Jameer as well since I think that they'd make a great combination for many years to come. Howard does it all for us right now and I think we really made the right choice drafting him.

Now if we could only get someone else to start rebounding for our team...Dwight can't do it all. And it's ridiculous that he should even be close to pulling down 20 rebounds. Sure, it means he's a great rebounder, but it also means that nobody else is getting on the boards like they should.

I think thats where we miss cato he is a much better rebounder than Battie is IMO Battie doesn't seem like he puts alot of effort into rebounding. Dwight is getting double teamed all game long I would like to see him score more but him being doubled really opens things up for other people too I think that is part of the reason Garrity and Deiner have so many open looks. I think it is good that he passes out of the double teams most 20yr olds wouldn't do that

You know you are good when people are disappointed with a 16 and 11 game. (I saw his stats and frowned) [IMG]
