I know they're not the same type of player but it's interesting to note that statistically Head is on par with Swift even though he's a rook and probably makes a more significant contribution to the team than Swift.

What stats are you looking at?
How can you compare the two? Head is a guard and Swift is a power forward. You obviously don't expect Swift to be a better shooter than Head, and you don't expect Head to be as effective as Swift down in the post, although Swift isn't a beast down low either. Statistically, they're on par with each other, but Head is more vital to the team's success.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Locke:</div><div class="quote_post"> Statistically, they're on par with each other, but Head is more vital to the team's success.</div> He is? Considering the Rockets have no true backup at the 4, and how old Deke is, I would think Swift is more essential to us than Head right now...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rocket:</div><div class="quote_post">He is? Considering the Rockets have no true backup at the 4, and how old Deke is, I would think Swift is more essential to us than Head right now...</div> Well, considering the fact that the Rockets bench consists of Head and Norris coming off the bench, I think Head is more important. He is counted on to play big minutes every night, while the Rockets are at least padded at the four, with Hayes, Baxter and Swift all coming off the bench. We didn't miss Swift at all once Hayes and Baxter got going. The same can't be said if Head gets injured.

I think Head's value to the team has really dropped the last few months. While he was hitting his three, he looked great, but his shot has deserted him and his other weaknesses are becoming more obvious -- in particular court vision. Defensively, he's ok for a rookie, but he fouls too much. Given that his free throw shooting has been poor pretty much all season, I'm thinking Head probably isn't the pure shooter we thought he was. Maybe his first month was just good luck, and the rest of the year has been more representative of how good he is.
Luther Head is a great player but no comparisions to Stromile Swift. He is a dominant Power Forward with athleticism and Luther head still has alot more learning to do before he gets close to starting. He has to stay focus and build up on body strength and stamina.

Head actually looks like he knows what he's doing out there while Swift looks confused and dazed. Swift is no where near a dominant powerforward, although he's athletic and actually needs to learn the fundamentals of the game.

Meanwhile, saying Swift is "dominant" is like saying Michael Jackson is normal.
