<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> "Raptors star forward Chris Bosh weighed in on personnel issues for the first time yesterday, suggesting that the club should resist trading veteran guard Mike James, and instead, sign the pending free agent this summer. "I always keep my ear to the street and my eyes on the television," said Bosh, who is eligible to sign a contract extension with the Raptors in August." Toronto Globe & Mail "To that end, Bosh hopes to sit down with interim general manager Wayne Embry sometime before the trade deadline on Feb. 23 and "encourage" him to find a way to keep James in Toronto." Toronto Sun "Given his importance to the franchise, the Raptors probably would do anything Bosh asked, including making a big push to keep James around. But while Bosh does hope to talk to Embry, he certainly does not want to come across as a prima donna. "I don't want to act like I have so much power," the good-natured forward said. "All I can do is recommend and see what they do. I need to see what (Embry's) thinking and add my little two cents." Toronto Sun</div> I really appreciate the fact that Bosh is doing this because no one from the Raps team is yet to come out and acknowledge Mike James' performance. I agree with Bosh and feel that James would be a solid guy for the Raps from now and the future, but would James listen? Knowing the Raps situation...unless they move a couple more guys, they probably won't have enough to sign James, who will obviously ask for a "slight" increase in paycheck...so maybe the Raps are up for one more move or two before the deadline to create some flexibility to work with for James in the offseason. I mean, you have to do what makes your franchise player happy and I think all Raps fans knows that and Wayne Embry as well.
I really like the second part that Bosh said, how he didn't want to act like he has so much power, just a reccommendation. I think this means we should try to re-sign him, as well he seems to get along with teammates and is performing well, as well has had a really good attitude.
I agree, I think the Raps need a Mike James type of player to really inspire some of the younger guys. I mean, I've never seen someone who really has that edge to want to win and if it will make Bosh happy, then I think the Raps should really do something about it.
im glad thebigboshdog doesnt want to be heard like he's a high power cuz what happened the last time someone was in power that wasnt front office (*cough* vc), well you know what happened
Well, as a Franchise player, you would like some say or "power" into what the front office does. You would like to have certain players u like and get along with on your team.
yes that is true, but what vince did was OD in my own opinion. and because of his decisions, we are stuck with no cap room at all. we gave AD almost max and JYD a lot of money...
The Raps should do whatever it takes to keep Bosh in Toronto long-term...its not like James is a scrub, he's played very well for them this year...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rocket:</div><div class="quote_post">The Raps should do whatever it takes to keep Bosh in Toronto long-term...its not like James is a scrub, he's played very well for them this year...</div> That's not the problem, the problem is that most Rap fans think it will be another Donyell Marshall situation if James isn't traded. It's really tough, but I don't see James getting traded at the deadline, I think Embry will let Mike make his own decision and respect whatever he does.
