Though their have been no official articles about it, its almost a given that Antonio Davis will refuse to report to the Toronto Raptors, the very team he requested a trade from a couple years ago. Should that happen the Raptors could waive him, or look to trade him again. Davis has made it no secret that he would love to return to Chicago if not this season, when he becomes a free agent over the summer. So how many people see him forcing a trade, or forcing the Raptors to waive him, and him eventually returning to Chicago?

I would love to see him come in, and play a key role off the bench, or even as a starter that plays limited minutes like he did last season. We need to type of toughness that he provides. I, for one, am tired of seeing other teams get uncontested lay-ups in the paint during key stretches of games. Though his statistics are not incredible, by having Davis in their I guarantee that will never happen.

i'd love for him to be back here. As you said he could come off the bench or start and play low minutes. He would help out our defense and we do need another big man.

I don't think the Raptors can trade him, I think there is a restriciton on how quickly you can trade a player after receiving him in a trade and I think the trade deadline is coming up soon.

I think thats just on players you signed through free agency. Remember a couple of seasons ago when Wallace was traded to Atlanta and then to Detroit a few days after?

I wouldn't be surprised if they waive him. However, if he does complain, I'd like to see them just bench him or fine him, ala Tim Thomas.

If Antonio Davis refuses to report, he'll be the biggest hypocrite in the NBA. As president of the Players Association, he should set the example, but instead he refuses to report - something he fought against during the CBA meeting? I would love to see him practice what he preaches.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> When he left the Bulls last fall, the NBA supposedly prevented the Knicks from releasing him so he could come back to Chicago. Then, last month, the league suspended Davis for five games for entering the stands at the United Center to confront fans who he said he believed were a threat to his wife.

Davis' value as an aging 37-year-old veteran is not generally high, especially with the remainder of his $13.9 million contract something a team would have to assume in trade.

The Raptors could release Davis, but that might prove unpopular. The team was criticized and general manager Rob Babcock recently was fired, in part, for letting Alonzo Mourning go after the Vince Carter trade. The Raptors are saying they look toward Davis as a veteran who will help their young players and that Davis won't walk away from the last season of his most lucrative contract.

Because Davis lives in the Chicago area, wants to return to the Bulls and hopes to work for the organization after his playing career is over, here's a likely scenario:

The Bulls trade Thomas to the Raptors for Davis because their salaries are almost equal. It doesn't seem likely the Bulls will get a better offer for Thomas, who also was in the Curry trade, after all this time.</div>

Let?s weigh the options on one hand we have Davis who was a great leader, mentor, and hard nosed player during his time in Chicago. A guy who loved the city so much that he was reluctant to leave and go to New York. Meanwhile, we would be giving up Tim Thomas a player who has been nothing more than a distraction since arriving, has been inactive for months now, and does not even travel with the team. Paxson please pull the trigger on this deal.

Everyone in chicago loved davis and we still do. if he can get back in a bulls uniform hell be exactly what we need right now. the bulls are getting pushed over by ther teams and we could use his tuffness to make the bulls a tuffer team.

Whether Antonio Davis will come to help remains unclear. Davis met with Toronto officials Saturday after the Raptors acquired him from New York. Sources said he expressed a desire to play elsewhere and the Raptors indicated they would consider accommodating him.

But the Bulls have no idea if it will occur

"He is a member of the Raptors now, and I don't know what their plans for him are," general manager John Paxson responded in an e-mail when asked about the former Bull. "We obviously could use veteran leadership. But we are only in control of the players we currently have on our roster.

"I've learned in this business sometimes doing the right thing, the ethical thing, requires tough decisions.

"Unfortunately, we lost AD (Davis) in making the ethical decision [to trade Eddy Curry to New York]."</div>

I do think that by trading Curry Paxson was just looking out for the best interests of Chicago. God forbid something does happen to Curry one day on the court but if that day does come Paxson didn't want it to happen in Chicago and that says a great deal about him...wrong time to post that maybe but whatever. let's get AD back!!
