Washington: Gilbert Arenas 1st and Second Round Draft Picks Philly: Allen Iverson Philly Lineup: Samuel Dalembert C Chris Webber PF Kyle Korver SF Andre Igouldala SG Gilbert Arenas PG Washington Lineup: Brendan Haywood C Antawn Jamison PF Caron Butler SF Antonio Daniels SG Allen Iverson PG
Arenas and a couple draft picks isn't going to get you one of the best players in the league. Gil is good, but he is not on AI's level, at least right now he isn't.
that's a good trade imo Arenas is younger and look at his stats.. he's improving and he will get even better i would do the trade plus we get 2 picks
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Iguodala:</div><div class="quote_post">that's a good trade imo Arenas is younger and look at his stats.. he's improving and he will get even better i would do the trade plus we get 2 picks</div> Are all Philly fans ignorant, or just you? No way in hell Washington trades Arenas. He's their franchise, and he wants to be there. Iverson is OLD. He's closing his career, the most you'd get for Iverson is a B-rate star. Arenas is on the verge of becoming an A-rate star. His stats have increased each year in the NBA, and he's only 24. There is no way in hell the Wizards would do this.
hell no i like gil in washington, like k8b said, iverson is old and areans is only 24, he gets about 20 shot attempts a game, and shooting 43%... thats pretty good, a few seasons ago when AI averaged 30 ppg he shot 39%, and gil will improve every year and i hope that stupid eddie jordan gives him unlimited shot attempts

So your basically saying Arenas could/should be traded for AI huh? =p He may be old, but he's still one of the best. Ironically at this point of his career you would think he wouldn't be the same player at all but the thing is that he only got better. The reason why is because he has a better feel for the game, AI just might get even better when he hits 32-34. Who knows?

I thought for sure that Washington fans want to pull the trigger on this trade because Iverson is one of the top players in the league. Gilbert Arenas is talented, don't get me wrong, but I don't think he will ever be as good as Iverson is now. While this trade would never actually happen, I was a bit suprised when I read your response K8B.

This trade is wierd, will washington trade gilbert or rather trade other players to get these two on the same team.

He might be like Marco Antonio Barrera in boxing, just gets better with age, like you said. But with the way he plays, so physical, I don't think his body can hold up. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Swish15:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm shocked right now. Why would Washington trade a 24 year old budding superstar, for a 31 (that's his age, right?) year old superstar who is likely about to start heading down hill in the next season, or two? It makes absolutely no sense for the organization. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post">Hey has a thing against Iverson. I'm not saying he will never show any ill affects of the beating he takes but the way he looks right now it doesn't seem as if he will be slowing down anytime soon. That of course if some tragic injury occurs(God frobid). <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Oh shut up, haha you know I like Iverson. Caron better not be traded. He fits well with Arenas. He's averaging a career high in points. I can let go of Jamison, but this team doens't need another allstar. We have a superstar in the making with Arenas, and perfect role players in Caron and Haywood. We need a SF, PF, and some other pieces. I'm all for shipping Jamison for an PF and PG.
You won't find one Wizards fan that would do this trade. How stupid would that be. Where exactly is Iverson leading Philly to? A barely .500 record, same place Arenas is leading the Wizards to with a similar roster? Arenas is 24 years old right now, not even in his prime yet. Iverson is in his 30's, even if he improves the next 2 years, no one can fight age, and he's currently not winning more than Gil, so what does adding him accomplish? The Wizards would be stupid to do this trade. Arenas has Iverson's explosive scoring ability with a superior shooting touch. He actually scores efficiently [though Iverson is doing so this season], and his FG% is misleading, since he also takes, but makes a lot of three's. Iverson's numbers at 24 years old: 28.4 PPG | 3.8 RPG | 4.7 APG | 2.1 SPG | 3.3 TPG | 42.1% FG | 34.1% 3PT | 71.3% FT | .446 eFG% | .496 TS% Arenas last year at 23, outside of scoring put up better numbers than that [26-5-5], and was vastly more efficient. His eFG% was the same as Iverson's TS%, and his TS% was 7% higher. Arenas: 27.9 PPG | 3.7 RPG | 5.9 APG | 1.8 SPG | 3.6 TPG | 43.4% FG | 35.4% 3PT | 81.1% FT | .493 eFG% | .551 TS% This is not to say Arenas is currently better than Iverson, but his trade value is clearly a lot more when you consider he's about 6 or 7 years younger, he makes less money, he has a .500 record just like Iverson, and he's putting up good numbers too. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I say you trade caron and jamision for a star player like AI or someone else.</div> No, Caron is good where he is. What the team needs to do is to solidify the bench, and add a more reliable post scorer, and add some more consistent shooters. Adding Iverson to play along with Arenas would be stupid, very stupid.
