I got this idea from RealGM, I thought it was a good topic..which fans do you think support their team the most (ie. which arena is the loudest)? And for this one, don't pick your own team. I'm going to say Phoenix
okay LOUDEST - right now it's Dallas probably MOST PASSIONATE - it has to be Celtics/Lakers/Sixers I have lived in L.A. if you haven't been there the Lakers are the main team in town BY FAR. USC Football is probably the #2 team. MLB and NFL from what I could tell are less important in hollyhood. most people shrug if you talk about those sports. the average person on the street who isn't even an NBA fan knows the lakers starting five, but might not tell you one person on the dodgers. PHILLY - i've spent a short time there. the sixers have a history of success, and it's a sports town. people care about the sixers in philly no doubt CELTICS - same thing as philly is My GUESS, but i have never been to Boston. I don't think any of the newer franchises would be the most passionate fanbases because they don't have the history and so there's usually another team in that town that gets more focus. For example, any fool can tell you that the Yankees are much more important to New York than the Knicks. But in L.A. the Lakers are more important than the Dodgers. In San Francisco, it's the 49ers. etc. Obviously Phoenix fans should be passionate - they have a sick team right now. Look at Atlanta and oakland, a lot of basketball fans getting unrewarded year in and year out.
I think the best fans are in Detroit, I've been there and man they can make some noise. They are active throughout the game, probably due to their PA anouncer.
No one sells out more games every year than the Pistons. Mason is a big part of the extended noise though. He gets the fans into the games.
Obviously there is tons of bias in here, did anyone forget about the Sacramento Kings aka 296 consecutive sellouts. Just a little prior to the early Divac and C-Webb days they were selling a reasonable amount of tickets for a sub .500 and even with the early struggles they are still selling out games. Now that's passionate but then again there really isn't that much to do in Sac-Town. =p But honestly, the most passionate fans are the teams that has long history like the C's, Lakers, Sixers, Spurs etc. The old timers have always been passionate about those teams and todays fan feel obligated to continue that and so they do.
I nominate Houston fans for least passionate, considering the star power on the team and media coverage the franchise has gotten the last 15 years.
I've heard Los Angles is pretty much Laker Town. It really helps them since they don't have a football team there too IMO so the Laker fans are really into basketball. I think the Kings fans are up there too. I was watching a little big of the Kings-Bulls game last night and I was astonished to learn that Sacramento had something like 200 consecutive sellouts even at their darkest hour in the beginning of the season. Detroit fans though, oh boy is that place pumped up. THe Palace is a scary place to play at. For the Philly fans I'm not really sure. I live pretty damn close to Philly so most people are Philly sports team fans, and I'd say Philly is a football town. The Eagles are the big thing here. Plus I've heard we're like 27th in attendence. Ouch
I'd say Detroit or Sacramento. As for the most devoted, I think the Warrior fans are up there since they've always sucked and still have aolt of dedicated fans.
Toronto probably has most of Canada behind them. If we go by the posts in each team section, the Lakers are first, Raptors second, Magic third(shocking), then follows the Warriors, 76'ers and Rockets. I never realised so many people posted in the Magic section. Unless its a certain few people who post? As far as loyalty goes, alot of the late Laker "fans" have jumped off the bandwagon. However, the one's that have stayed shows loyalty. The extent of this is shown by us having the most active team forum on the board despite how we've gone from championships to the lottery.
In terms of loudest arena though imo The Palace and the ACC are tied. I've been to both, The Palace has crazy but great fans and the ACC is just filled with loud fans that are into every part of the game. The Celtics have a lot of fans but they don't make a lot of noise. Everytime I watch a game being played there it's so quiet you can hear every sound on the court and every word the players are saying.

Unless its a certain few people who post? </div> The Magic forum used to be one of the most active boards on this forum until we started losing and lost Tracy McGrady. Since then, it hasn't been as busy but there are still a few of us who post in there. Recently it has started to pick up. We have had some new members joining and they have been doing a great job considering the Magic are pretty frustrating to follow sometimes.

Hm.. I live in Houston and I would say Houston appreciates their nice team the least. When i watch some of the games, seats are empty.. all over the best arena in NBA.. But the most passionate fans would have to be KINGS from when they had.. Bibby, christy, peja, webber, divac....They had whole bunches of sellouts in a row.. But now, i would definitely go with Pistons because of their nice record. And also.. I would say Philly. I mean.. Iverson, he gets the crowd involved with his moves..
Philadelphia hands down....We're passionate, what other fanbase, boycots games, like Philly? BK hasn't done a good job and we've shown it. When LB did a good job (Almost always, although no one ever gives credit where it's due!) We felt him, and the 76ers. I will never attend a 76ers game, for the next 4 years, That is because as long as BK's the one in the damn office, Mr.Disgracful Maurice Cheeks, will coach. LB hasn't taught this guy, anything really. He asks us the fans (This is true) What to do sometime during home games. It's not good to be a 76ers fan, but I'll stick by them. But I am frustrated with our product, and I will show it.

How has nobody even mentioned the Oklahoma City fans? They got an oppurtunity to see NBA games in their own arena, they took that oppurtunity, and they have been loud and passionate every game. They know this might be their only chance for the next 10 years, so everybody shows up for the game and brings down the house.
