Steve Nash as the "franchise guy".

That is gold lineup, but for me, i would build a team around either stockton, mailman or Shaq.

    If You Had To...

    Just an interesting thought here.

If you had a choice to base your brand new franchise around one player, past or present, IN THIER PRIME, who would you choose and why?

That means, you can choose to pick Jordan, Kobe, Scottie Pippen, Chris Paul or even Chris Mullin for all I know. Who would you want to revolve your team around and why?

As far as I'm concerned, there are only four options. Shaq, Wilt, Bill Russell, and Michael Jordan.

Shaq and Wilt are basically interchangable. Wilt was better at defense and rebounding in his era, but Shaq in his prime was probably the most dominant offensive force ever. The problem with both of them is that they command the ball too much for my tastes. I'm not accusing them of being selfish, but I just prefer the type of offense that moves the ball around more than a team with either of those two on it would. Obviously, Wilt can dish it out, but I don't want to bank on him deciding he wants to lead the league in assists again.

That leaves Michael Jordan and Bill Russell. Now, if I picked Russell, I could replace Michael's scoring and perimeter defense (I'm not saying I could replace MJ, obviously, just certain aspects of his game). If I picked Jordan, there's no way I could replace Russell's defense and rebounding. So, my choice is Bill Russell.

I'm going to build my team around Russell with modern NBA players. I know something about the league's history, but not enough to think I could construct the perfect team.

    Starting Lineup

    C: Theo Ratliff
    F: Bill Russell
    F: Josh Smith
    G: Raja Bell
    G: Chris Paul

Well thats easy Wilt Chamberlain. He's the most talented player in history IMO. I just need to put smart role players and a PG who will feed him the ball constantly.

C Wilt Chamberlain ( double team him, triple team him, still can't stop him

PF Dennis Rodman ( with Chamberlain and Rodman nobody on the opposite team could score or get a rebound)....... hopefully he won't do something stupid to ruin the team though

    SF James Worthy (unselfishness, scorer)

SG Joe Dumars ( good shooter, not too much of a ball hog

PG Jason Kidd ( excellent perimeter defense, and will constantly feed Wilt the ball.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    C Chamberlain
    PF Rodman
    SF Worthy
    SG Dumars
    PG Kidd

Depends. If he plays for 12 years, I can see 12 championships in a row, especially with that dynamite supporting cast.
