<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The 76ers' plan in each of the past two offseasons was to add a free-agent big man who would make an impact on the court.

It hasn't worked out that way.

In 2004, team president Billy King signed Brian Skinner to a three-year, $14.9 million contract, with a team option for $5.85 million in 2007-08, only to see Skinner struggle to get minutes. He was eventually sent, along with Kenny Thomas and Corliss Williamson, to the Kings in the Chris Webber deal on Feb. 23, 2005.

Last summer, King signed Steven Hunter to a five-year, $16 million deal. On Wednesday, the Sixers gave the underachieving Hunter to the Hornets for a pair of second-round picks.

Also, Lee Nailon agreed to come to Philly for the sixth-year minimum of $835,800 before getting buried on Maurice Cheeks' bench. That was before Nailon's arrest and arraignment for simple assault and harassment as the result of an alleged domestic incident, which probably ended his forgettable days as a Sixer.

With Hunter and Nailon, the Sixers have practically nothing to show for their 2005 free-agent group (unless you count the undrafted Shavlik Randolph).</div>

damn you BK! [IMG] reading this article just reminded me as to why he even decided to sign skinner last season. he signed the guy to a multi year contract, but it seems like the team didnt even need him. i am seriously questioning his ability at decision making after reading the article. the guy gives out long term deals without even thinking.
ex: aaron mckie, eric snow, derrick coleman (i believe), kenny thomas
not to mention his love of switching coaches year after year

I've been saying this for a long time now...

    Fire Billy King!

However, Ed Snider is in love with BK for some reason... someone just needs to tell him to buy his own Burger King (corny joke, I know).

You guys are comparing Billy King to Burger King? My God. Don't ever insult Burger King like that. But yeah, King should be fired. But I'm not going to completly knock on him because I see what he tries to do. He actually makes attempts to try and put the team over the hump but the way he manages things is a little questionable. Maybe a great assistant GM would help.

Something needs to be done. I like the idea of keeping him on but have an assistant GM that actually does all the works and dealings. Maybe then, we will be able to put together a team that will remain together for a while and even challenge in the playoffs rather than just get there and make up numbers.

Yeah I`m starting to feel that "Fire BK bug." He doesn`t make the right decisions we need and just isn`t a good GM.

Although I don't think it's his official title, but I'm pretty sure Tony DiLeo works as the assistant GM (but he's actually the "president of player personnel" or something).

He's pretty good, it's just that Billy just cancels out DiLeo's smarts with his own dumness...

And I'm sorry for insulting Burger King... what was I thinking?! [IMG]
